Mower – Not For You Review

The Inside Pulse:
Forming in 1995 out of San Diego, Mower unleashes their third record, Not For You. Backed up by Suburban Noize Records, Mower has toured with the likes of System of a Down and are currently touring with Wicked Wisdom and (hed)p.e. Let’s see if Mower is capable of bringing their game to the next level.

Positives:
Not so much a metal record as it is a heavy rock album. Very catchy hooks accompanied by vocals that vary from sounding like Snot to a vague resemblance of Alice in Chains.

Mower seems to have also gotten the formula down for writing catchy songs that aren’t completely by the book.

Negatives:
Nothing on this album is really memorable. That’s not to say it isn’t good, but it’s quite likely this album will find it’s way back on your CD shelf in no time.

The production on this album is also questionable at times, as the vocals seem to be either too loud or too quiet to the trained ear.

Cross-breed:
Snot mixed in with a touch of Alice in Chains with a little heavy added in. Throw in some bland radio rock and you have Mower.

Reason to buy:
Give it a listen to first and decide from there. It’s not a terrible record, but not memorable by any stretch.
