News on Hillary Swank, Scarlett Johansson

Oscar winner Hilary Swank (Million Dollar Baby) is in negotiations to star in The Reaping for Warner Bros. & Dark Castle Entertainment.

The story is about a young woman who exposes “supernatural” fakes & forgeries, and is then sent into a town in the heart of the Texas bible belt to investigate apparent signs of the apocalypse detailed in Revelations.

This is also combined with her role in The Black Dahlia for Director Brian De Palma, alongside Josh Hartnett, Scarlett Johansson and Aaron Eckhart.

Dahlia is from a highly-praised James Ellroy (Get Shorty) novel about the (legit) brutal murder of a young Hollywood starlet.

According to Australia’s NW Magazine, Steven Spielberg has his eye on Oscar Winner Scarlett Johansson for a role in the next, long-awaited, Indiana Jones adventure.

Apparently the script for the new film features a female sidekick for Indiana Jones, and Johansson’s name was suggested to Spielberg by Tom Cruise (who is working with her on Mission: Impossible 3) who are working on War of the Worlds together.

“Steven was saying there is a shortage of young actresses who can carry off a strong role”, says an insider. “He considered Natalie Portman, but she’s too connected with ‘Star Wars’ – Tom suggested Scarlett”. The insider adds, “She hasn’t done anything like that and indications are she might be interested, although nothing has been decided”.

The big age difference has been noticed by many, and hopefully, if this comes to light, the two stars won’t be playing lovers, but merely a wise-man/young sidekick duo, or something of that nature. It’s also fun for some fans to think about whether or not she could play Jones’ daughter.
