In the land of remakes, remakes, and more remakes; there is another one on the way. And I know this may come as a shock to some of you, but this remake is of a horror movie.
There are rumors circulating that the 1981 film Scanners is going to be remade in highly technological glory. The story focuses on a group of people called scanners who have special telekinetic powers. Their powers allow them to see into the minds of others and actually make their heads explode. These scanners were born to a group of women who took experimental drugs which caused their offspring to have the special powers. Outcast from society, the scanners gather together and live as one trying to survive.
The other rumor going around is that there is already someone in negotiations to direct the film and that would be Darren Lynn Bousman of the Saw franchise fame. Bousman directed both Saw 2 and 3 and has recently confirmed that he would direct the fourth film of the franchise. So I wouldn’t expect the Scanners remake to come along any time soon if it is actually followed through with.
