Josh Holloway Joins Cast of M:I4

Casting News, News

The M:I 4 casting news just continues. A few days ago, it was the announcement that Michael Nyqvist (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) would play one of the villains. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Lost star Josh Holloway is joining Ethan Hunt’s newest squad.

The film, directed by Brad Bird, has a cast that’s constantly growing and been in the news almost as much as X-Men: First Class was. Holloway will join M:I veterans Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg, as well as newcomers Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton and Vladimir Mashkov.

This will also be Holloway’s first major production since Lost ended its run last year, and his first real break from playing the character of Sawyer for six seasons on the hit ABC show.

Things seem to be shaping up for the film, which looks to continue the trend of solid installments in the successful franchise, with all signs pointing at a December 2011 release.

The Pulse: I absolutely am ecstatic about this news. I’m a huge fan of Lost, and Sawyer was my favourite character right from the start, and the confidence in Holloway in the role was a huge part in that; though Sawyer being a complete bad-ass with a heart didn’t hurt. I remember constantly looking around for projects Holloway may be working on, hoping to find that he’d expand from the small screen and onto the silver screen, but I’d always end up disappointed. I was a big believer that he’d have been the perfect Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but alas, that went nowhere fast.

Now that Lost is gone, it’s great to see that Holloway is branching out, and hopefully his role in the film will be one that allows him to venture out into other options and even more parts. I think he’ll be a great addition to the cast, and as if I wasn’t already extremely excited for Mission: Impossible 4 already, this just made waiting another year an impossible mission in itself.

What do you guys think about this? Will Holloway fit nicely onto the crew? Are you excited about the fourth film, or is it still too early to tell? Sound off below!

Brendan Campbell was here when Inside Pulse Movies began, and he’ll be here when it finishes - in 2012, when a cataclysmic event wipes out the servers, as well as everyone else on the planet other than John Cusack and those close to him. Brendan’s the #1 supporter of Keanu Reeves, a huge fan of popcorn flicks and a firm believer that sheer entertainment can take a film a long way. He currently resides in Canada, where, for reasons stated above, he’s attempting to get closer to John Cusack.
