TNA Impact Report

Chris Candido, 1972-2005

We see stills of the TNA’s Lockdown, inluding Candido’s famous injury.

We start in the RDS studios with Marc Blondin and Michel Letourneur. They of course talk about Chris Candido. Thank god Marc Blondin is here, because last week, his replacement was horrible. This week, the announcers have a computer next to them.

Petey Williams vs Shocker: A long back and forth by both, ends with a powerslam by Shocker. Petey comes back with a dropkick. Petey legdrops Shocker on the apron. Resthold on Shocker. Shocker get out of it and gets a tilta-world. Two big boots by Shocker. Petey comes back with flying headscissors, but turns it into a Russian Leg sweep for deux. Petey gets the sharpshooter! Shocker gets the ropes and the fans aren’t happy. There’s one thing I like about TNA and that there isn’t a lot of submission finishes. Don’t ruin it! German Suplex by Williams. What is he, Chris Benoit? Going for another sharpshooter, but Shocker cradles him for trrrrrrrrois. We see Mike Tenay going into the ring, but we go to

Two different angles of how Chris Candido was shown. I don’t know if people are going to be angry about seeing that right after his death, but I did want to see it, so good for me. Letourneur says that his death was probably a medical error and I can’t say I disagree.

Sonjay Dutt vs Buck Quartermain: As usual, back and forth ends with Buck out of the ring and Dutt with a sprinboard cross body. On the apron, Buck with his head to Sonjay’s stomach. Suplex coming, no, Dutt with a suplex for 2. Buck fights back with forearms to the head, bodyslam coming, no, Dutt with a rollup for 2. Dutt with a whip, reverse, flapjack by Buck for 2. Hurricarana by Dutt and then screws up a flying headscissors. Buck covers him for deux. Elbow drop into another cover. More beatings and now a resthold. Those are some stiff elbow drops. Buck misses an elbow and Dutt gets a dopkick. After a few right hands, back body drop by Dutt. Sonjay gets thrown outside, but hangs on. Hurrincarana by Dutt gets the trrrrrrrrrois.

The Outlaw vs Mikey Batts: Lockup by both and while in the lockup, Outlaw is surprised at the “let’s go Mikey” chant. Outlaw misses a right hand, but connects with a big boot. Kick, whip, 2 ducks and a bulldog by Batts. Outlaw comes back with a tilta world slam. After some kicks and forearms, Outlaw gets his move (sleeper into a slam) for un, deux, trrrrrrrrois.

After the match, Outlaw keeps kicking Batts. 3 Live Crew show up and BG James has the mic. Konnan takes the microphone away from him and tells Outlaw that it’s going to be on next week, when it’s Outlaw vs Konnan. Konnan and Truth leave James alone in the ring, and Outlaw has a huge smile on his face.

We see Dusty Rhodes sitting at an end of the table. He talks about the next TNA PPV, Hard Justice. There will be a 20-man gauntlet for the #1 contendership. As many of you know, it will be Tito Ortiz as the special referee for AJ Styles-Jeff Jarrett World title match. Why couldn’t they get Ken Shamrock as the referee, since TNA has history with him? Who is Tito Ortix anyway?

Our TNA world champion Jeff Jarrett shows up and starts messing with the announcers. He goes on the announce table for his usual “I am the king of the mountain” promo. He isn’t afraid of Titto Ortik either.

Commercials

Independent wrestling is talked about.

AMW vs Naturals (w. Chris Candido in a wheel chair): No entrances by either team. James Storm and Chase Steven start it off. A couple of right hands by Stevens. Storm pops right up for his right hands. Whip, thesz press by James. Andy Douglas comes in to get hiptossed and punched by Chris Harris. A brawl (another thing TNA does so well) errupts between the 4 men. Harris and Douglas are outside on the aisle. Now the brawl is happening over the railing and into the crowd. Awesome stuff. Chase whipped into two chairs and the railing. Harris somewhat suplexes Andy on the steps. Candido tries to comfort Chase by trying to cool him with the towel. We miss you Chris. And I am the guy who is recapping his last ever wrestling appearance. Wow. A slingshot by Harris with Andy’s neck snapping off the railing! Stomach first on the railing goes Chase. While Harris is beating on Andy on the announce table, Storm smashes Chase with a chair held by a fan.

Back in the ring, Douglas whips Storm in the corner. Andy runs into a boot. After a jawbreaker by Storm, tag to Harris. Axehandle and backbody drop on Andy. Atomic drop and clothesline to Chase. To the top goes Harris, cross body block on Andy gets 2 when Chase stops the count. Storm is in there now. Chase throws Storm out of there and gets clotheslined by Harris. Whip on Andy, reverse, Chase with a shot and a knee lift by Andy. Now, The Naturals are in control. Chris Candido is now standing. After a few minutes of in ring stuff, Andy hits Harris with a crutch outside.

Harris finally gets the tag and Storm is on fire! Punches and a powerslam to Chase Stevens. Albama Slam on Andy. Flying headscissors gets 2 when Chase stopped the referee. AMW going for their move, but Chase knees Harris. Enziguri on Stevens gets 2. Andy with a belt and the referee stops him. Superkick by Storm. Stevens with a chair shot on Storm. Spear by Harris. Candido goes in the ring and places Andy on top of Storm for the 1, 2, 3. The Naturals are the two time, two time tag team champions! A great ending as we just see Chris Candido with both belts and he couldn’t be happier. Mike Tenay shows up and tells Candido that he cheated. Chris just says that he has the brains and they’re going to celebrate.

We end it in the RDS studios.
