Backstage, Batista is shown getting sweet with Christy. Bischoff interrupts to congratulate Dave on his big win last night, and announces his idea for an 8-man tournament called the Gold Rush to declare the new #1 contender. Eric then offers Batista the night off, but Batista says he’d like a match tonight with…him. Eric freaks out, but Dave was just joking.

Christian(1-2) vs. Kane(1-0) – Gold Rush Tournament match
Christian talks some trash, but Kane powers him out. Back in, Christian runs into a big boot, and gets clotheslined out. Kane follows, but Christian trips him into the steps. Christian follows it up with a crossbody off the top rope to Kane on the outside. Back in, it gets 2. Inverted DDT gets 2. Kane sits up and takes it to Christian, but Chokeslam is countered into the sleeper. Kane counters out of that with a sidewalk slam. Kane goes up, but Tomko pushes him, allowing Christian to go for the Unprettier. Kane pushes him off and goes for the Tombstone, but Christian gets out of THAT, and tries to get Tomko to help him, but it backfires and Kane get the Chokeslam for 3.

Afterwards, Tomko attacks, but he gets Chokeslammed as well.

Backstage, Ric confronts Christian about losing tonight, and rapping last night. So in return, Ric gives a little rap of his own.

Muhammad Hassan comes out with Daivari. Hassan says that he will not allow this injustice to go on – he’s excluded from the Gold Rush Tournament. He mentions that he is undefeated, which isn’t true. He starts blaming people for what happened at Backlash, and even brings up Daivari. Well, he was the one who got pinned. Hassan slaps him silly and kicks him in the face for punishment. Hassan walks back afterwards and Daivari follows.

Viscera(0-1) vs. Simon Dean(0-1)
Beforhand, Vis expresses his hunger for love and goes toward Lillian Garcia. Vis mentions that he like to eat spicy, and seeing as though Lillian is a latina, he would like to go south of the border tonight. Simon comes out and tries to sell his Simon System as usual, and gets the usual result. Vis ties him up in the tree of woe and splashes the guts out of him. Elbow misses, and Dean gets a quick 2. Dean comes off the 2nd rope, but Viscera KILLS him with a modified chokeslam, and finishes with a splash.

Viscera gets ont he stick and reminds everybody that he’s back on the market…the black market.

Backstage, Stacy and Candice are looking at Stacy’s new Stuff layout. Bischoff walks by and comments on it, and walks back to his office, where he finds HHH. Hunter is mad about the tournament, as he should have won his match last night. Eric says that HHH is even lucky he’s in the tournament, and mentions that all Hunter has to do is win the tournament to get another crack at Batista.

Meanwhile, Benjamin is getting interviewed when Y2J walks in. Chris admits that Benjamin is nobody’s bitch, and the two shake hands.

Intercontinental Champion Shelton Benjamin(3-0) vs. Shawn Michaels(1-1) – Gold Rush Tournament match
HBK takes him own, but Benjamin owns him on the mat. Crowd chants “HBK”, as the two exchange hammerlocks and do some mat wrestling. HBK grabs a headlock, and gets a shoulderblock as well as a hiptoss. Shelton comes back with some armdrags however. Shelton grabs a side headlock and gets a quick 2 off of that, and HBK counters a couple of times to get some near falls. Shelton clotheslines Shawn out as we go to a…

We’re back with the two fighting on the 2nd turnbuckle. Benjamin counters what looks to be a 2nd rope back suplex into a crossbody. HBK runs into a somoan drop, and the two slug it out. Shelton gets some clotheslines and an inverted backbreaker gets 2. The two do a double kip up, and trade some near falls. Shelton gets the spalsh, but Michaels puches out of a T-bone attempt and backdrops Shelton. Early Sweet Chin Music is ducked, and Shelton gets a dragon whip for…2. Woo. Shelton sets HBK up on the turnbuckle, but HBK pushes him down and hits the elbow. He tunes up the band, but Shelton blocks it and gets a kick of his own for…2. Damn. Cat-jump top rope clothesline gets 2. Holy cow. Shawn looks to dump him, but Shelton hangs on and springboards off the top rope, only to leap into the Sweet Chin Music! The pin is academic.

Backstage, Todd asks Edge why he’s in the tournament if he’s already got the “money in the bank”. Edge responds that nobody, not even Batista, can stand two title matches with him. Todd brings up that Edge’s contract won’t be any good if he goes to SD!, but Edge just shrugs it off.

The Hurricane & Rosey(cs)(1-1) vs. La Resisitance(1-1) – World Tag Team Championship match
Rosey and Grenier start off. Sylvain goes for an early sunset flip, but Rosey sits on him. The heels double work to dump Rosey, allowing Grenier to get 2 back in. Conway comes in and gets an elbow for 2. The heels do some double teaming, and a co-op clothesline gets 2. Rosey fights out of the heel corner and manages to tag in Hurricane. He goes wild on the heels, and gets a top rope hurricanrana for 2 on Grenier, thanks to Conways. Conway gets dumped, and a double team Eye of the Hurricane gets 3.

Edge(2-1) vs. Chris Jericho(1-2) – Gold Rush Tournament match
The two tie up and break in the corner. Edge gets a headlock, but Chris hooks on the wristlock, only to get his hair pulled. Y2J replies with some chops, and makes Edge eat turnbuckle. Y2J jumps onto the ropes, but Edge dumps him out. Edge works on his lower back, and gets a backbreaker for 2. Y2J fights out of a surfboard, but gets hung on the ropes. Edge mocks Jericho, but Y2J catches him and clotheslines him down. Crowd chants “Y2J” and Chris gets a hurricanrana for 2. Enziguri gets 2. Edge gets out of a bulldog and hits the boot, allowing him to get the briefcase. Y2J springboard dropkicks him on the apron however, and follows it up with a dive over the top. Back in, Edge ducks a flying Y2J and gets an Edge-O-Matic for 2. He sets up the Spear, but Jericho leapfrogs over him and hooks on the Walls of Jericho. Edge makes the ropes though, allowing him to roll out of the ring. Edge hits Chris with the briefcase, and gets a missle dropkick for…2. Spear and that’s it.

Master Lock Challenge
I’m reluctant to actually count these as real wins. Chris has upped the payment to $4000, along with a Boston Red Sox jersey, and a football signed by Tom Brady. He picks out a guy and it’s the usual however.

Triple H(1-2) vs. Chris Benoit(1-2) – Gold Rush Tournament match
Benoit goes straight to the chops, and knocks HHH down. HHH goes for an early Pedigree, but Benoit counters it to an early Crossface attempt, which also fails. Benoit goes for the Sharpshooter, but the Game also fights out of that. Chris gets a snap suiplex and goes for the Crossface again, but HHH bails. Back in, HHH gets in a shot to the back of the head, which puts Benoit in a bad condition as we go to a:

We’re back with HHH in control. Another shot to the back of the head gets 2 for for HHH. Knee drop to the head gets 2. Benoit fights back, but runs into a sleeper. He trips Hunter into the turnbuckle to get out. Another attempt at the sleeper is countered into a back suplex. Benoit gets a german, but HHH interrupts to go for the Pedigree, but Benoit counters out and gets 3 more german suplexes. Diving Headbutt gets 2. Benoit goes for the Sharpshooter, but Flair interrupts. Benoit takes care of him, but HHH attacks Benoit and manages to bump the ref. The heels double team Benoit, but Batista comes out and destroys the two. HHH goes for a Pedigree on Dave, but he pushes out and hits the spinebuster. Back up, Benoit gets the Sharpshooter. HHH goes for the ropes, along with Dave teasing him, but Benoit holds on too long and Hunter is forced to tap.
