Tomorrow night, the Big Brother Canada 6 houseguests will participate in a Tomb Raider inspired veto challenge.
When the northern version of the U.S. show kicked off, it immediately resonated with Canadian audiences. One of the main reasons why it was able to so quickly separate itself from its southern counterpart were the challenges that it introduced onto the show. Primarily the work of the show’s co-executive producer Trevor Boris, the HOH and veto competitions on Big Brother Canada immediately developed a reputation for being high-octane, high-energy, and highly entertaining.
On Saturday, the show broke new ground once again by inviting members of the media to try out this Wednesday’s veto competition prior to it being played by this season’s actual houseguests. It was an incredible opportunity and provided an unbelievable insight into the game. It was actually the first time I have seen anything like this ever attempted as the houseguests were sequestered while members of the media entered the backyard. The yard itself was transformed into a set from Tomb Raider, the action movie starring Alicia Vikander that opens this Friday. As for the challenge itself, it required participating journalists to untie themselves from a post, shoot a bow and arrow at a target and complete a puzzle.
Insights that I immediately learned from doing the challenge:
– The Big Brother Canada challenges are much harder than they look on TV.
– My decision to drop gym class when it became optional in the tenth grade might have been a bad decision
– I am not as good at puzzles as I originally thought
If you’d like to take a look, the video is above where you will also find my interview with Trevor Boris.
