After an exciting show in Manassas, VA, I get to return home to take another gander at RoH on HDNet. Last week presented the best match yet in the form of the four way RoH title match. Can this week top it? Probably not, but read on to find out…
This week’s show starts with some highlights from last week and A-Double coming out to address the crowd. He tells the crowd that after all he has given, now it is time for him to start taking. He talks about how he wasn’t defeated in the match last week, and now he wants Jerry Lynn to hand him the belt. Jerry Lynn does not give a response.
Backstage Kyle Durden is talking to Chris Hero and Shane Hagadorn to hype his match with Jerry Lynn. Hero cuts a pretty solid promo.
Dave Prazak and Mike Hogewood announce that Flair has stepped down as RoH Ambassador and wish him best of luck in his future endeavors. That was kind of awesome.
Jay Briscoe with Mark Briscoe vs. D-Lo Brown
D-Lo hits a low blow before the bell and Jay goes “nuts.†Hogewood’s joke, not mine. D-Lo definitely knows how to work, but his cartoonish selling is a little different for RoH. Jay throws his typical stuff at D-Lo. D-Lo as a result takes a countout alleging that Jay Briscoe was too close to the ropes. Briscoe calls Mr. Brown a bitch so D-Lo goes to the back. OK this one was the drizzlers.
Winner: Jay Briscoe via countout…ugh.
We get highlights of the tag team tables match from two weeks ago. This in turn hypes the American Wolves vs. Tyler Black and Bryan Danielson for two weeks away.
Kevin Steen and El Generico vs. Bobby Fish and Silas Young
I actually thought this match was going to be a total squash but Fish and Young get some offense in before Steen and Generico go to work. They hit the package piledriver/brainbuster combo for the win. Slap the porpoise. Ok it was almost a total squash.
Winners: Kevin Steen and El Generico
Kyle Durden goes into the ring to get a word with the former champs. Steen said that he and Generico are angrier and hungrier to get their titles back.
We go to the back for Kyle Durden with Jerry Lynn. He is interupted by Nigel McGuinness. Jerry says that he will give Nigel a rematch down the line.
Jimmy Rave vs. Grizzly Redwood
Before the match Prince Nana runs down the fans and introduces the crown jewel, Jimmy Rave. Rave gets a modest toilet paper treatment. Rave just goes to work on the poor littlest lumberjack. Redwood’s epic beard can’t save him against the crown jewel. He gets the win after Ghana-rhea. He gets some extra credit by going for the heel hook after the bell only to be run off by the Necro Butcher.
Winner: Jimmy Rave via pinfall
Main Event: Chris Hero with Sara Del Rey and Shane Hagadorn vs. Jerry Lynn
They have a pretty back and forth match, but Hero uses his entourage to get every advantage. The match itself is actually pretty slow paced. Things do pick up though after some brawling outside the ring and fast exchanges in the ring. Neither guy can claim a firm advantage though. Hero goes for Lynn’s own Cradle Piledriver, but Lynn reverses it into Hero’s rolling elbow. They exchange huge strikes with Hero hitting a sick elbow for two. Hagadorn distract’s the referee with his shock allowing Hero to get the magic green elbow pad. It is all for naught as Lynn gets a rollup for the win. The match was fun, if unremarkable.
Winner: Jerry Lynn via pinfall
After the match Austin Aries runs in and hits Lynn with the belt which coincidentally he also won tonight in New York City.
Big Andy Mac’s Big Andy Final Thoughts: This show fell back into the old format but with slightly more storyline stuff. The show was a step down from last week, but that was kind of a blow off show and the rebuilding process starts now.
