Gary Sinise, best known for his Oscar nominated turn as Lt. Dan in Forrest Gump and as the star of CSI: New York has been given the second highest medal a civilian can earn with the Presidential Citizens Medal.

Sinise, who has been active for military causes since his iconic portrayal of the disabled Veteran, has quietly campaigned for their causes as well as entertained them with his band (Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band).
