Deadwood, the HBO western series where the term “c–ksucker” was as common as a six-shooter, already has a complete series release on DVD (released back in December 2008). With the cable network putting more and more of its shows on Blu-ray, like True Blood and Entourage: The Complete Sixth Season, it was only a matter of time before Deadwood would get the high-def treatment.
In an early announcement to retailers, it looks like Deadwood will get a release sometime in 2010. Over at Amazon, they recently added a listing for the complete series on Blu-ray. It is by far the lengthiest set HBO will have released on Blu-ray. The multiple Emmy winner lasted three seasons with a total of thirty-six episodes. From beginning to end the series is 2160 minutes. An official release date is unknown at this point, but if the cover art is correct, all episodes with be presented in 1080p with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack. Al Swearengen is sure to assault your sound system with his solecistic vocabulary. In other words, he’ll say “f—” a lot.
Suggested list price for this set will be $209.98. (Amazon has it for a preorder price of $146.99 – 30% off the list price.)
