Fugit, Fanning Join Cameron Crowe’s We Bought A Zoo

Casting News, News

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Patrick Fugit will reunite with Almost Famous director Cameron Crowe on the 20th Century film We Bought a Zoo. The film stars Matt Damon as a man who uses his family’s savings to purchase a run-down zoo. The script is taken from a memoir by Benjamin Mee.

Elle Fanning has also joined the cast as a thirteen-year-old girl who hangs out at the zoo. Also in the cast is Colin Ford, who will play Damon’s son, and Thomas Haden Church, who plays Damon’s brother. Scarlett Johansson is in final negotiations to join the cast as a zookeeper.

Crowe and Aline Brosh McKenna wrote the script and filming is scheduled to begin next year.

It’s been far too long since we’ve seen a Cameron Crowe film. Regardless of how his new film turns out, you can rest assured it’s going to have a great soundtrack.
