MTV Skins Premiere Episode Review Episode 1-1

News, Reviews

The first episode of the U.S. version of Skins looked a lot like the British version.

The show follows the same format where each episode is focused on one character. The first episode was on Tony and while the British version of the same character had naked bodies on his bedspread, the American Tony had spiders. Little softer right?

The rest of the episode followed Tony (James Newman) and how he tried to help his friend Stanley score. During the episode, we met Tony’s kinda girlfriend Michelle (Rachel Thevenard), Tabith, one of his rich pursuers and a little bit about his family. The U.S. version of the character certainly was more flawed and vulnerable than the British original.

The jury is still out on whether this show will be a hit. What is for sure is that it isn’t just a overtly-sexual show just for the sake of it.

And that’s a good thing.
