More X-Men: First Class Photos Offer Clearer Look At Film’s Period Tone

Media, News, Official Images

When the first photo premiered yesterday featuring the heroes and villains of X-Men: First Class, my heart sunk a little. The photo offered none of the ’60s period aesthetic that had been promised for Matthew Vaughn’s prequel to the hit superhero franchise. Cinematical writer John Gholson summed the look of the picture up best on his Twitter feed when he described the photo as looking like a really awesome Taco Bell cup from 2002.

Today, though, Hero Complex posted three new photos from the set of X-Men: First Class. The photos, which accompany a set visit you can read by clicking the link below, offer a much better look at how Vaughn is going to transport the nearly fifty-year old characters back to the sixties for the new film.

In related news, a larger resolution look at the cast which includes Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Rose Byrne as Dr. Moira MacTaggert, January Jones as Emma Frost, Jason Flemyng as Azazel, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Lucas Till as Havok, Zoe Kravitz as Angel Salvadore, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, and James McAvoy as Professor Charles Xavier.

The other big news that comes out of Hero Complex’s report is that X-Men: First Class producer and former X-Men director Bryan Singer still hopes to one day return to the franchise — possibly for a modern-day continuation of the series featuring the original cast.
