Didn’t see it? Then do what I did. Read Annie Barrett’s recap at EW.com and search each contestant she mentions on YouTube. It’s a great way to get a sense of the talent we’re in store for this season (I have a good feeling based on the singers who showed up in New Orleans) and the vibe of the new judging panel. Is it better without Simon? No, not really. But the Brit’s boredom was so palpable in recent seasons that even last season didn’t feel like American Idol at its best.
So if you’re like me and would rather watch the fantastic scripted comedies that are available on Thursday nights (bad schedule move, Idol) then checking out the talent on YouTube is a great alternative.
