Dennis The Menace was one of the pillars of black and white reruns for decades along with I Love Lucy, Father Knows Best and Leave It to Beaver. Jay North brought the pesky kid from the newspaper comics to the small screen. Even though the show only lasted four seasons, the producers knew there was only so long they could have a cute kid star so they made 146 episodes.
