Rebecca Hall In Talks To Join The Cast Of Iron Man 3

Casting News, News

On the heels of the box office explosion known as Marvel’s The Avengers, production is about to begin on Iron Man 3. Casting is just about completed, but one change has recently been made. Jessica Chastain was originally going to be part of the superhero sequel, but she had to bow out due to other commitments. But stepping in is Rebecca Hall, star of such films as The Town and Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Apparently, she will be a bit of forbidden fruit for Tony Stark, used to spark some sexual tension. A little sex never hurts, especially with Scarlett Johansson nowhere to be found in the story.

Shane Black, who previously directed Robert Downey Jr. in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, helms the picture which he co-wrote with Drew Pearce. The film itself is a loose variation of Warren Ellis’ six-issue Iron Man: Extremis series.

Hall’s role will be that of Maya Hansen, a scientist who will be assisting with Guy Pearce’s Tristian Aldrich character to create Extremis, the virus that’s a central part of the story.

Don Cheadle will be returning as Col. James Rhodes, while Ben Kingsley will take the role of the heavy as the villainous Mandarin. Also rumored to be among the cast is Hong Kong star Andy Lau.

Iron Man 3 will hit theaters May 3, 2013.
