Forrest Griffin Has Successful Knee Surgery – Recovery Time Described As “Lengthy”
by Scott "Kubryk" Sawitz on December 13, 2012

ESPN had an update on Forrest Griffin, who withdrew from his UFC 155 battle against Phil Davis after blowing out his knee. He apparently had knee surgery on Tuesday to repair the ACL and MCL tears he suffered preparing for the Penn State wrestler. No timetable has been set for his return but his recovery time has been described as “lengthy” by his management and coaching staff.

“He was really excited to fight Phil,” Griffin’s coach Jimmy Gifford said to Brett Okamoto of ESPN. “He’s an up-and-coming guy, he’s not a veteran like Tito (Ortiz) or Rich (Franklin). He was pretty confident he could beat Phil. He looked great in camp, it was a real tough break.”
