‘Final Four’ Set For Next Week’s Final BFG Series Matches

News, Top Story

AJ Styles ran the gauntlet last night on TNA’s Impact Wrestling, earning himself 20 points (for a total of 49 points) and placing on top of the Bound For Glory Series leaderboard. Behind him in second place is Magnus with 39 points, Austin Aries placed third with 35 points and Bobby Roode just made the cut with 34 points.

Because Styles entered the Final Four as the points leader, he was given the option to choose his opponent for next week’s semi-final match on Thursday’s “No Surrender” Impact Wrestling special. Styles chose to face Austin Aries so Magnus will face Bobby Roode in the other semi-final match. The winners of those two matches will then face off in the finals later on in the evening to see who will challenge for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship at October’s “Bound For Glory” PPV.

Next week’s “No Surrender” special will also feature a TNA Heavyweight Championship match between fellow Aces & Eights members Ken Anderson & the TNA Champion Bully Ray.

Final BFG Standings 2013

Harrak’s Hit: I typically enjoy the BFG Series as it’s a clear, storyline-driven indication of how wins and losses affect your standing in the company. This year, however, was just a clusterf*ck from beginning to end. The one good thing that has come from this year’s tournament is that the four men at the top of the standings are all “TNA guys”, recent World Champions who’ve been lost in the shuffle or young athletes that appear to be on the verge of main eventing. There’s no Jeff Hardy, Kurt Angle or Sting this year and while the faces of the top four aren’t entirely fresh, they all still have a lot to give to the top of the card if given the chance.
