A couple of months ago, the rumored WrestleMania XXX card looked something like this when it came to five of the higher profile matches on the list:
Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus
Bray Wyatt vs. John Cena
Triple H vs. CM Punk
Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker
Randy Orton (c) vs. Batista
This, of course, was the list of matches that were planned BEFORE CM Punk decided to take matters into his own hands and walk out on the WWE (for now, if not forever).
As crazy as the Punk vs. WWE saga has been over the past few weeks, one thing that hasn’t been discussed too much is this:
With the way things have been shuffled around following his departure, CM Punk has actually saved WrestleMania XXX.
After all, if Punk didn’t walk out on WWE following the Royal Rumble, there’s a good chance that Punk would be feuding with Triple H instead of Daniel Bryan. That storyline just would not have unfolded as perfectly as Bryan vs. Hunter/Stephanie/The Authority has, and if Daniel Bryan was relegated to a match with Sheamus at WrestleMania it would have been an absolute nightmare for WWE.
Luckily for most parties involved, Punk did leave, WWE called the audible they needed to call, and now the WrestleMania XXX card looks something like this at the top:
Bray Wyatt vs. John Cena
Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker
Triple H vs. Daniel Bryan – Winner Enters the Title Match
Triple Threat Title Match: Randy Orton (c) vs. Batista vs. [Triple H or Daniel Bryan]
As for Sheamus, well, have fun with the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal, fella!
That’s all from me — CB.
