DVD Review: Paw Patrol, Shimmer and Shine & Blaze and the Monster Machines

DVD Reviews, Reviews

As spring arrives, the snow melts on the roads so there’s more driving to be done with the kids in the backseat. If you’re a traditional parent, you still have a DVD player to keep the little eyes occupied instead of kicking the back of your seat. The kids often want something new to watch and Nickelodeon has three new titles of familiar titles. Paw Patrol: Pups Save the Bunnies, Shimmer and Shine: Friendship Divine and Blaze and the Monster Machines: Race In To Velocityville are bound to give you a peaceful drive.

Paw Patrol: Pups Save the Bunnies is the most Spring oriented of the DVDs. “Pups Save the Bunnies” has them discovering how quick bunnies can multiple when they are in a carrot field. “Pups Save the Easter Egg Hunt” is fine fun for the holiday season. “Pups Save the Mayor’s Tulips” gives kids an idea about all the colorful flowers blooming in the defrosted weeks. “Pups Save a Stinky Flower” hints that not all that blossom will appeal to the nose.

Shimmer and Shine: Friendship Divine are more lessons for beginning genies. Now they have more friends to escalate their magical skills including Princess Samira and the sorceress Zeta. The show is good for small kids who need to figure out there are consequences for magical wishes. The two genies are colorful enough to keep small eyes caught up in the action.

Blaze and the Monster Machines: Race In To Velocityville are getting small kids excited at the future of driverless cars from Tesla. The show is fun enough for kids who like to make their toy cars talk. I’m still confused who drives when the human kid is inside the talking car. Strangely enough, none of the small kids I’ve met have pondered this existentialist question about the show.

Here’s Josie’s review of the three DVDs:

The videos is 1.78:1 anamorphic for all the DVDs. The transfers look fine since all the shows are recently produced. The audio is Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround so little ears will hear magic and cars all around them. The shows are Closed Captioned.
