(That teaser applies to this review too. I am currently hooked on Simpsons Hit and Run, so this review won’t be as long as usual.)

The issue begins with the Spectre giving us a rundown on the idea of Legacy. Then we see a train wreck in Portsmouth, and Dr. Mid-Nite comes up to save the day. There is one woman trapped on the train, and she’s pregnant. Doc delivers the baby and finds the piece he’s been looking for since his miniseries.

The back up features the original Dr. Mid-Nite taking on a gang of hoods as a force of justice. Or is he really a pawn of vengeance? Read it and decide for yourself.

I was pretty disappointed with Johns’ script. I have never had a real problem with his skills as a writer, but to me it seemed like he phoned this issue in. I think that it was the second time I read Dr. Mid-Nite’s origin in the issue that I began to suspect that this was the book that Johns had procrastinated writing whatever month it was written. But as usual Azzarello was superb. I loved the second story. It makes the wait for Batman 620 seem even longer. Although some JSA fans may balk at this decidedly hetro Dr. Mid-Nite.

I had no problem with the art on either stories. It was great to see Sadowski’s work again. It wasn’t an action packed issue, but I did feel as though I were trapped in a Subway train, so they did a great job. Risso, is the best. What more can you say? I’ve missed his work and to get a double dose this week was an amazing treat.
