Man if there is one lesson to be learned from this book, is you don’t go tinkering with the past. It causes irrevocable damage. We can see this by the familiar looking white out effect sweeping through the centuries on the pages of this book.

Unfortunately, the Legionaries, who traveled to Apokolips, aren’t aware of the urgency of their mission. Fortunately, they left a few stragglers behind. But wait; let’s go to that uber cool Darkseid vs. Darkseid confrontation.

Things start out nice. While the Legion is held in stasis, the two Darkseids catch up on old times and discuss their ultimate plans for universal conquest. But when one tries to pull rank, the other takes offense, and takes to the offense. This leads to the wacky Legion Darkseid team up. Did I mention that time was being destroyed by century progressively from the past?

Meanwhile Superboy, Quantum Kid, Violet, and Garth plot to save the time stream. They team up and undergo a mission and transformation. Back on Apokolips the younger Darkseid fulfills a prophecy, and quickly turns on his reluctant allies.

I can’t believe DnA are leaving this book. I love their work. They manage to juggle a huge cast and make it look easy. I really wanted to see where they were going to go. This issue shows the depth of their talent, with the wave of destruction wiping out time. Darkseid (both of them) are completely in character. And I really enjoy the makeshift second squad.

The art is great. The team is remarkably consistent looking. Darkseid’s dark allies are rendered perfectly. And how the years have been unkind to Darkseid really shines through. Where Apokolips is dark and scary, Legion World is bright and colorful. It makes for a great contrast. The book is any eyeful of joy.
