All you need to know is that four friends; Mike, Ford, Pete and Trent, found battle armor and divided it up among themselves and went about their mundane daily lives. But how the pieces affect their lives is a different story.

This issue is great. It is perfect. A perfect 10. The story is moving nicely, characters are becoming more developed. The art looks great. Yet this book is canceled?

Fraction is one of those interesting concepts that come along every few years. It’s about real people who find something that changes their lives. They happen to be old friends, who may have outgrown each other. In fact Mike’s a criminal and he’s trying to sleep with Trent’s ex-wife. Pete is a bit slow, and has a domineering mother. Ford is an ex-con. Trent has that aforementioned ex-wife, and a conscience. These are great characters. Plus you have to factor in that they each have a different piece of the suit to use for whatever they want.

Tischman has done a wonderful job of setting up a compelling concept that I look forward to reading every month. Now the guys have a guy on their trail that has a suit of his own and a cop who is trying to solve the murder that Mike committed. This has crime, suspense, drama, and comedy. It’s a great comic. Yet it’s been canceled.

Green’s art is perfectly suited for the book. His highly detailed work gives us nuances of the characters that really add to their believability. Not only do all the characters have unique designs, but so do the magazines at the newsstand on page #19. Green is a better artist than some guys who have landed “major” gigs. It takes a lot more work to capture the mundane than to create the fantastic. Yet the book’s been canceled.
