Kate Winslet has signed on for the Aardman upcoming animated feature Flushed Away.
Produced with the help of Dreamworks, the movie will star Hugh Jackman’s voice as Roddy, a pampered rat who accidentally gets flushed in the London sewers, where he discovers a whole new side of life. Winslet will provide the voice of Rita (a part once offered to Nicole Kidman), a sewer rat who befriends Roddy. Ian McKellen, Andy Serkis and Bill Nighy round up the cast.
The claymation production, following Aardman’s Chicken Run and the Wallace & Gromit shorts, should open in theatres in June 2006. Aardman animators are also currently hard at work on The Wallace & Gromit Movie.
