NWA NJ Names Chairman of the Board
From Fred Richards:
“NWA New Jersey has announced its new Chairman of the Board.
Marc Coraluzzo has been named to this high office with the full faith & support of NWA New Jersey Directors Bandido, Frankie Starz, & Fred Richards. Marc is the son of the late Dennis Coraluzzo who passed away in July of 2001.
Joined on center stage by Chairman Coraluzzo, the NWA NJ Board of Directors, NWA NJ champion Chris Candido, Referee Mike Kehner & the entire locker room, the following statement was read:
‘Marc Coraluzzo is as much a part of the NWA in New Jersey as was his late father, Dennis. They are responsible for helping launch the careers of many of today’s superstars.
Dennis Coraluzzo was taken from us way ahead of his time. Regrettable circumstances led to his leaving the NWA before he died. But no true NWA promoter or fan can ever deny that it was Dennis’s energy, persistence & marvelous irreverence that helped keep the organization prospering.
Some saw a gruff & insincere man. They were wrong. Dennis was a man with a heart of gold. Dennis Coraluzzo was the first one there in time of tragedy. If a person needed help, it was Dennis who rose to the task. Be it fundraising to help pay medical costs or a memorial to honor industry greats like Eddie Gilbert, Brian Hildebrand & others, Dennis was always there. We stand today alongside two of his wonderful children to honor his memory.
The guard has changed. Marc Coraluzzo now carries the torch. It will be his initiative that maintains the Coraluzzo spirit well into the twenty-first century. We can think of no finer standard-bearer than Marc.
Accordingly, and from this day forward in perpetuity, the NWA NJ Board of Directors is proud to name Mr. Marc Coraluzzo Chairman of the Board. Marc succeeds his late father who is hereby forever enshrined as Chairman of the Board Emeritus.’
Adding a personal note, NWA NJ & NY President Fred Richards said, ‘Marc, let me make some things clear about my feelings for your dad. Your father gave me the opportunities of my lifetime in this business and I will never forget that. Dennis Coraluzzo was often vilified to excess. Shortly after his death, I picked up a microphone in Wildwood, NJ & eulogized your dad. The words I spoke were what is in my heart. I had a business disagreement with your father; but I never forgot nor took for granted his many acts of friendship or the good times we shared. I wish I could unring a bell, go back in time & do things differently.
My heartfelt apologies to Dennis and you for the way my association with your father ended. I allowed myself to be manipulated & I deserve to bear shame for my indiscretion. Breaking away from Dennis was a grave mistake and I freely admit that.
I miss your father. Dennis Coraluzzo will always be in my memory & my heart.’
