Update on Rumble Qualifiers at House Shows, New Jack, WWE.com

Archive

– At this weekend’s IWA Mid-South Wrestling event, New Jack announced on the ring mic that he’s signed a WWE deal. PWInsider.com’s Buck Woodward is reporting this, but he has not heard official word that this is true. New Jack also joked that WWE didn’t know what they were getting into and he’d be gone in two weeks.

– Over the weekend, WWE held some “Royal Rumble Qualifying Matches” at non-televised shows. The Royal Rumble, being held at the end of the month, will feature a battle royale that includes 15 RAW and 15 Smackdown superstars. Here are the reults of the qualifiers from this weekend:

1/14, Minneapolis: Christian defeated William Regal
1/15, Grand Forks: Kane defeated Gene Snitsky
1/15, Kitchener: Luther Reigns & Mark Jindrak defeated Nunzio & Scotty 2 Hotty
1/16, Winnipeg: Chris Jericho defeated Muhammad Hassan
1/16, Halifax: Orlando Jordan defeated Charlie Haas

Unless something changes on TV, here are the entrants to date, with 10 spots left from RAW and 9 from SD:
– Edge
– Shelton Benjamin
– Christian
– Kane
– Chris Jericho
– Daniel Puder
– Booker T
– Charlie Haas
– Luther Reigns
– Mark Jindrak
– Orlando Jordan

Interestlingly enough, Haas both won and lost a qualifying match, so it’s safe to assume that there will be multiple chances for workers to get into the battle royale (especially since there are only so many ppl on each roster).

– On WWE.com, this month’s Spotlight features Chris Jericho, and some Screensavers have been added for download.

– Also on WWE.com, the US Title History has been updated, with only the World Tag Team Titles not live. Click here for WWE.com’s title history (or here for ours!). You can also see an incomplete list of WWE.com’s “World Tag Team Title” history here. It only goes up to January 2001, so no word on how they plan to incorporate the WCW World Tag Titles – which were combined into the WWF World Tag Titles late in 2001 – into the equation.

– Finally, on WWE.com, there have been new news items (with superstars mostly in character) posted on tonight’s Benoit vs. Jericho match, Batista setting the record straight, Lita’s injury, Fozzy’s new album, and HHH’s 10th title victory. On the SD side, there are stories up on The Cabinet, The Bashams, new Royal Rumble qualifiers, and Daniel Puder. Plus, there’s a new column up on the Rumble by Keith Elliot Greenberg, and if you missed it, Stacy Keibler was named 2005 Babe of the Year.
