Simply put, Ex Machina is a joy to read, every single month. Vaughan has created a very original concept, and it seems like there is no end to the stories he has to tell.

Every month, we delve into the past for a little bit to learn some backstory that becomes relevant to the present day. There are also many subplots going on at once, but it’s nothing that gets confusing or overpowering. Also, because of the political nature of the book, there are several heavy issues that come into play. In this storyline, it’s gay marriage. However, as I said, there are numerous subplots going on, so we also read about Mayor Hundred’s budding romance, the mystery of the green symbols of the Great Machine, and many others. Each month also features a hell of a cliffhanger, something that has become a staple of Vaughan’s work.

The art is an absolute pleasure to view. Harris, Feister, and Mettler combine forces for a tremendous effect, as Ex Machina is easily one of the best looking books out there.
