OVW TV Taping Results
Taped on February 23, 2005 in Louisville, Kentucky
Report by Vicki Lynn Brown of JimmyVan.com

Here are your spoilers for the show that will air on 2/26/05:

The evening started with Jim Cornette getting in the ring to address the
crowd. He said he wanted to bring out a very special member of the OVW
lockerroom, one who had served in the U.S. Armed Forces. He said that this
was not any hype or storyline, but a genuine, sincere story of what goes
on in war. He brought out Will Jones. Cornette talked about how Jones got
his start in the business in 1999 in ECW, but in October of 2001, he
joined the armed forces/U.S. Army. He was in the first company to be sent
to Iraq in April of 2003. He is a recipient of the Bronze Star, Purple
Heart and Medal of Honor. He told a story of an incident that occurred on
11/22/03. His company was building a “safe house” for U.S. forces deep in
enemy territory. After a few days, they were in the middle of severe
attacks by the enemy forces. They called in the National Guard to assist.
They were under fire (mortar attacks) and a bomb went off right in between
him and a friend of his that was nineteen years old. His friend caught
schrapnel in the throat and he caught it in the arm. He was very emotional
while telling the story and asked the crowd to support the troops, even if
they didn’t support the President. He asked that we remember that they are
over there for us. He, obviously, received a standing ovation along with
“U S A” chants. Jimmy thanked him and he went to the back.

Match 1 – Danny Inferno w/Trudi DeNucci vs. Deuce Shade (not televised)
Match started out with a lockup. Shade went to kick Inferno in the
midsection, Inferno blocked and caught his foot. Inferno scoop slammed
Shade and Shade rolled out of the ring. Inferno put Shade’s head into the
turnbuckle while Shade was still on the apron. When he tried it again,
Shade grabbed Inferno’s neck and hung him up over the top rope. Shade got
back in the ring and put Inferno in the corner with an Irish whip. Inferno
out of the corner and Shade had him on the mat putting elbows to the neck
and shoulder and working Inferno’s left arm. Shade had Inferno in, what I
think is called a keylock, or wrist lock. Inferno managed to break the
hold and put Shade into the ropes twice for two big clotheslines followed
by a powerslam off the ropes. Inferno tried to put Shade into the corner
with an Irish whip, but Shade reversed and followed Inferno into the
corner, only to get a big elbow to the face when he got there. Inferno off
the second turnbuckle with a clothesline to put Shade down. Inferno put
Shade into the corner and followed him in, but got a big boot to the face
for his trouble. Inferno managed to come back, though, for the pin and the
win.
Winner: Danny Inferno w/Trudi DeNucci

Match 2 – Steve Lewington vs. Vik Delicious
Special Guest Referee Passion
Before the match even started, Lewington suggested to Passion that she pat
him down to see if he had any “foreign” objects. Passion obliged, and then
Delicious asked why he didn’t get patted down. Passion shoved Lewington
into Delicious and motioned for the bell to start the match. Lewington got
an early advantage with a big back body followed by an atomic drop.
Delicious fought back with a two hard rights and an elbow drop. Lewington
came back with two rights of his own and upper cut finishing off with a
power slam off the ropes to Delicious for a two count. Delicious tried to
make a comeback and got a side Russian leg sweep. Delicious went to the
second turnbuckle, but wasted time dancing which gave Lewington time to
shake it off and take him off the turnbuckle, hoist him over his shoulder
and come down for a back breaker off Lewington’s shoulder. Lewington got
the pin and the win.
Winner: Steve Lewington

Match 3 – Cliff Compton/Bamm Bamm Penders vs. The Heartbreakers w/Moe Green
I had to take a phone call outside of the arena during this match, but I’m
told that The Heartbreakers won the match, but MNM (Joey Matthews, Melina
and Johnny Nitro) all came out after the match and told The Heartbreakers
that they had an issue with Moe Green, after his interference in their
match the previous week that caused Melina to nail Matthews in the head
with a chair and get pinned.
Winners: The Heartbreakers

Next, footage of last week’s match between Aaron “The Idol” Stevens and
Danny Inferno was shown, showing the chaos that resulted from the
non-sanctioned “Anything Goes Match” where Beth Phoenix made her
reappearance by attacking Trudi DeNucci from behind.

Match 4 – “The Shooter” Brent Albright (OVW TV Champ) vs. Aaron “The Idol”
Stevens w/Beth Phoenix
Beat The Champ TV Title Match
Match started standard style with a lockup into a side headlock on Idol.
Idol broke the hold and got Albright in an arm wringer. He took Albright
down three times by pulling the hair while holding the arm wringer.
Albright reversed and got Idol in an arm wringer. Idol broke the hold and
Albright gouged the eyes and got a huge suplex on Idol. Idol rolled out of
the ring and Albright went out after him. After they both got back into
the ring, Albright took Idol down again for a two count. Albright was in
control when Trudi DeNucci came out from the back and attacked Beth
Phoenix. Idol got DeNucci in the ring and was setting her up for either a
pedigree or a power bomb when Danny Inferno came out from the back and
came after Idol. DeNucci and Phoenix went at it again, while Inferno and
Idol went at it. Albright went to the corner and told the referee he’d
just wait. The ref finally called the match and Albright maintained his TV
Title.
Winner: No contest but Albright kept his title

Match 5 – Seth Skyfire vs. Tank Toland w/Chad Toland (The Blond Bombers)
Started out with a lock up and Tank tossed Skyfire aside. Skyfire back
with an arm drag on Toland followed by another arm drag into an arm bar.
Toland tried to break the hold with a scoop slam, but Skyfire held on.
Toland broke the hold by putting Skyfire into the ropes, but Skyfire with
a baseball slide went through Toland’s legs. Toland off the ropes and
Skyfire leap frogged him and nailed him with a standing drop kick when he
turned around to see where Skyfire was. Toland out of the ring. Skyfire
with a plancha off the apron taking out Chad and Tank Toland. Skyfire out
of the ring, Tank back in the ring, and Chad worked on Skyfire on the
outside. Skyfire finally got back into the ring and went for a flying head
scissors out of the corner, but Toland telegraphed and simply dropped
Skyfire to the mat. Skyfire fought back with three hard rights and a
spinning heel kick to Toland off the ropes. He decked Chad off of the
apron and then he and Tank collided and both were down for the count. Tank
rolled out of the ring, but Chad rolled back into the ring with his face
covered. The ref realized that it was Chad and tried to get him out of the
ring. Skyfire was up and making sure Chad got out of the ring, meantime,
Tank snuck back into the ring and sucker punched Skyfire when he turned
around. Tank got the pin and the win, and it looked like Skyfire left the
match with an injured left arm.
Winner: Tank Toland w/Chad Toland

Match 6 – OVW Heavyweight Champion Elijah Burke vs. The Blue Print
OVW Heavyweight Championship Match
Burke out first and announced that he was tired of being double and triple
teamed by The Blue Print, Vengeance and Lance Cade. He said that to make
sure that wouldn’t happen during this match, he had a special guest
referee/enforcer – Mark Henry. The Blue Print came out and Vengeance came
out with him, but Henry sent Vengeance to the back. It took him a long
time to leave the ringside area, but Henry would not start the match until
Vengeance was in the back. Match started with a lock up, with The Blue
Print backing Burke into the corner. The Blue Print, of course, going for
the dirty break with a big right hand, was blocked by Mark Henry. Burke
into the ropes and caught by a big shoulder from The Blue Print. Burke
returned the favor, but The Blue Print came on strong and it was amplified
after Burke missed a clothesline to The Blue Print and got hung up over
the top rope. The Blue Print got an Undertaker-like leg drop on Burke
while his neck was on the bottom rope. Burke tried to come back, but The
Blue Print put him in the corner and landed a knee to the midsection,
doubling Burke over and finally getting him off his feet. The Blue Print
stood on Burke’s neck in the corner to the four count. The Blue Print
scoop slammed Burke and got a wrist lock on him in the middle of the ring,
twice. He put Burke into the corner after the second time Burke broke the
hold, and followed him in. Burke put a boot in his face both times. The
Blue Print went for a wheel barrow slam, but Burke reversed for a DDT and
a two count. After The Blue Print was down, Burke came off the top
turnbuckle for an elbow drop. Vengeance came out from the back and Henry
went out after him telling him to get to the back. Burke went back to the
top turnbuckle for another elbow drop, but went to the well once too
often, as The Blue Print got up and shook the ropes to send Burke crashing
to the mat. The Blue Print went for the pin, but Henry was still on the
outside of the ring with Vengeance. Briscoe came out and got a two count
for The Blue Print. Burke got a face buster on The Blue Print for the pin
and the win.
Winner and still OVW Heavyweight Champion – Elijah Burke

I had to leave early and missed the last non-televised match, so I have no
winner for that one. Be sure to catch the show on 2/26/05 at 11:00PM EST
on the WBKI.
