Hello everyone! Not much news, but lots of links and lots of opinions from
One Asshole. See you there!

News

Story
We have lots of information on the upcoming ECW
PPV.

One Asshole’s Opinion
I’ve gotta say, I’m excited about this. All indications point to the WWE doing
this show justice, even if they are just trying to derail Shane Douglas’s attempt
at a reunion. Colour me intrigued.

Story
Steven
Richards
is sporting cheek and nose injuries from his match with Chris Masters.

One Asshole’s Opinion
More on this later in the column…

Story
Matt
Hardy
and Lita break up?

One Asshole’s Opinion
Well, no one seems to be sure yet. If that is the case, then I think Matt’s
being a bit of a baby about it. It reminds me of college, when people left personal
attacks in their away messages.

Story
Kazarian
has signed a WWE contract.

One Asshole’s Opinion
Well, like everyone, I love this guy’s work, so I can only hope he’ll be used
to best of his abilities.

The Adventure of Links

These guys do a great job, especially for people like me, who can only watch
Raw.

Haley

Gordi

web.

Even sans Meat & Potatoes, Blatt
rocks the house.

Eric does
just fine without my pimps.

Hevia
brings it.

We’ve got LOTS of new blood. Team TNA: Sumner
and Lambert.
Team RoH: Francis
and Big

. Additionally, we’ve got Brashear
and Truncellito.

gloomchen,
as always, is required reading.

Cameron
is always excellent.

Mathan,

Jim does
the Marvel Handbook.

Matthew
Michael

Can I tell you how excited I am for the Sesame
Street
figures?

Last but CERTAINLY not least, my stuff: this week I reviewed Ex
Machina
. My reviews for Birds of Prey and Seven Soldiers should be up soon
too. In addition, I popped up in the Music zone, yapping about, of all things,
Savage
Garden
.

No Way Out

Well, I downloaded No Way Out, but my computer couldn’t read the AVI files.
Anyone have any suggestions? Anyone? Bueller?

One Asshole’s Opinions

• Keith said, on the women’s division, that "no one is in Trish’s
league." With apologies to Hyatte, I have to totally disagree, as Molly
and Victoria are FAR superior as wrestlers. Trish may have them beat as a sports
entertainer, but since when does Keith care about that?

• Keith also says this: "Quick bitch: As noted before, WWE is a
big supporter of the stupid.ca anti-smoking initiative thing here in Canada
and they air anti-smoking commercials all the time, but then show the Basic
Instinct promo, with Stacy featured with a cigarette in her mouth as a focal
point, in heavy rotation." To that, I say: gee Scott, it would be a pretty
lousy parody if they did that scene without the smoking, which was
a big part of the original scene in Basic Instinct. Additionally, just because
an advertiser pays for a spot on the network during WWE programming does NOT
mean that WWE supports it. I see TNA ads during Raw on a regular basis, but
that certainly doesn’t mean that WWE supports them, does it?

• I find it very amusing that Keith has said in his last several Raw
Rants that "that’s the end of the Simon Dean character," and then
of course, he shows up next week. Hehehe.

• Speaking of Simon Dean, though, in an effort to bolster the incredibly
weak tag team division on Raw, I think Simon Dean really needs to change his
gimmick to Nova again. Then he can team with the Hurricane as (sorry Eric) Novacaine.
A cheesy tag team with cartoonish characters? Absolutely. But how many times
can we watch Tajiri/Regal vs. La Resistance? Also, I think it would help the
division if all the tag teams had names. In my opinion, a team feels less "thrown
together" if they have an actual name, and come down to the ring together.
Bonus points for the reader with the best suggestion of a name for Tajiri and
Regal (and Eddie/Rey, for that matter).

• Pet peeve time. Again, I’m quoting Keith here, but a lot of people
are guilty of this: "Hot tag #2 is Shawn Michaels, and he’s the proverbial
house of fire." The phrase is NOT "house of fire." That doesn’t
make any sense. The phrase is "house afire," as in, "house on
fire." Ya know…"he’s on fire"?

• Chris Masters had a great entrance…and that’s it. He was absolute
SHIT in the ring, and he injured Stevie to boot. I hope that effectively stopped
his push, but I’m sure I won’t be so lucky.

• They are really pushing Shelton Benjamin as "trying to bring prestige
to the Intercontinental title," which is an admirable effort. The problem
is, there are very few believable contenders. In order for people to actually
care about this, and thus bring prestige to the title, he needs to a) have viable
contenders, and b) actually have FEUDS with them. People aren’t going to care
if he just keeps having random matches.

• More from Keith. Must be his lucky week. "If Angle can do a job
at the PPV last night, you’d think Shawn could help elevate Edge and Christian.
HAHAHAHAHAHA, sorry, forgot who I was talking about." Do you honestly think
that the wrestlers have that much say in who wins their matches? I will GUARANTEE
you that Shawn had nothing to do with his team winning. The wrestlers work with
the road agents to build their matches, but the match decision (i.e. who wins
and loses) is made by the booking team. Come on, man, that’s IWC 101. For once
in your life, will you let your prejudice against Shawn go? I hate Randy Orton,
but I can admit when he has a good match. Speaking of Shawn…

• Just because someone was an asshole several years ago, does not mean
that they still are. Nor does it make anything they say to the contrary "hypocritical."
Belittle it all you want, but Shawn is a Born-Again Christian, and by all accounts
has completely turned his life around. You can see it in his interviews and
ring work too. He is obviously enjoying what he’s doing, and he doesn’t let
rowdy Canadian crowds rattle him. You may not agree with what he did in the
past, and you may not agree with his beliefs now, but if he has made a conscious
effort to change his ways, you can at least show some respect for that.

Well, you can’t really follow THAT up with anything else. Keep the e-mails
and IMs coming, and I’ll see you here next weekend.
