CBS Scored a championship of its own Monday night as they parlayed a close NCAA basketball final into ratings success.

The network averaged an 11.6 rating/18 share for the night, almost doubling the 6.1/9 that second-place FOX drew. ABC finished third at 5.6/9, beating NBC’s 5.3/8. The WB, 2.2/3, was fifth, ahead of UPN, 1.8/3.

Two episodes of “Two and a Half Men” led off for CBS, managing 8.1/13 at 8 p.m. “Nanny 911,” 5.5/9, put FOX in second, while a “Fear Factor” rerun on NBC was third. ABC was a close fourth with a 4.6/8 for “EM: Home Edition: How’d They Do That?” A “7th Heaven” repeat on The WB was fifth, beating episodes of “One on One” and “Cuts” on UPN.

At 9 p.m., the NCAA title scored a 12.0/19 for CBS. FOX remained in second with “24,” 6.7/10. ABC’s “Bachelor,” 5.7/8, tied for third with NBC’s “Behind the Camera” movie on “Mork & Mindy.” “Summerland,” 2.2/3, kept The WB in fifth. UPN was last with “Girlfriends” and “Half and Half.”

CBS closed its night with a huge 14.1/22 for the NCAA game at 10 p.m., as the game progressed to an exciting finish. “Supernanny” managed a 6.7/10 for ABC, while NBC’s movie finished with a 5.5/8.
