The Sci Fi channel announed that it plans to do a remake of the cult classic, “Time Tunnel.” The cable network unveiled its development slate Wednesday (April 13) in New York.

“The Time Tunnel,” will be based on the Irwin Allen series that aired on ABC in 1966-67. It followed a scientist and a government agent after they found themselves trapped in a time-travel experiment. They had the ability to move between the past — where they witnessed historical events along the way — and the future, but were unable return home.

In 2002 FOX shot a pilot for a “Time Tunnel” remake but it opted not to proceed with the show. Two of the producers of that project, Kevin Burns and Jon Jashni, are executive producing Sci Fi’s pilot. John Turman (“Hulk”) is writing the script.
