In Perspective: Matt Hardy: Version Pop.
The world waits as thematthardy.com gets higher hits than usual for Matt’s reply. And then there was nothing. Nothing instantaneous like the ECW PPV reply. The biggest question is when is Matt coming back? Did WWE miss THE opportunity last night? My household popped, I popped, the America West Arena popped for THE VIDEO of Matt Hardy (just like New York POPPED for Matt’s name) for the swerve of the year by WWE. Is this the new Bret Hart situation? I have no doubt that fans will never let Lita and Edge forget what they have done in their personal lives, especially now that they are on TV together, but this just reinforces my belief.
I’m ruling out that he’s not returning, WWE has no reason to push Matt’s name NOW out of the blue just because the crowds have been chanting it for what, four months? WWE doesn’t need to push a guy they have no intentions of rehiring unless they feel the PERSONAL NEED to dig into Matt’s psyche.
BTW, WWE since you couldn’t hear Edge’s dialogue last night – the fans said this is (or Edge is) boring. Stephanie McMahon must be the wedding mark backstage, just remember how many attempted weddings we’ve had in the last six years. I’m a month shy of being a 24-year woman who has been watching wrestling all of my life, I do not need to see so much soap opera in wrestling to APPRECIATE the SPORT.
Am I the only one that feels WWE writers are out to humiliate Lita by her lines last night?
Lita: “I don’t care what these people say, and it might hurt, but if falling in love makes me a slut, then I’m proud, I am proud to be the slut of the century.”
That’s quite a feat! That makes Diva of a Decade award that the lovely Trish Stratus seem like nothing. Speaking of Trish, can you imagine if any of the following had occurred:
-Comeback in that hot white lingerie number like last time (or some sexy variation)? “I told you she was a slut!” would have gotten such a face pop.
-Reverse, her coming out to Matt Hardy’s music mimicking his hand signs, etc. That would have made her the biggest heel of all, but it would have been something unpredictable. For it to make any sense at all (though nothing about this makes sense anymore), Lita and Edge would have had no prior knowledge of this and would have been “nervous” and pissed that Trish would freak them out like that.
Basically, the Absence of Stratus in an opportune storyline to bring her back for her to take another dig at Lita, left me wanting more,having her involved would have been more fun to watch then Kane popping out of the stage.
Unfortunately, the entire sight of Hardy’s video and no Stratus took my enjoyment out for the rest of the show. Kurt Angle versus Batista Title Match was a joke turned into a tag team match. Hunter or Batista needs to make the Smackdown jump because Smackdown lost yet another great mic worker and rising name in Carlito Cool.
I marked for Carlito Cool’s spitting his apples at Maria’s, chest, I mean face. Neither area appeals to me no matter how you dress her. It’s unfortunate Shelton underestimated his own move which could have been worse than just being disoriented the entire match, however it made the match seem more credible for Carlito to get the IC Belt his first night on RAW. Also, props to the writers for having him remind us that he did that also his debut night on Smackdown because I wasn’t making the connection until I was reminded.
John Cena squashed Muhammad Hassan relatively easily which doesn’t elevate Hassan whatsoever (and I’m not his biggest fan) and you don’t need to elevate a guy who is already WWE Champion. I understand and am thankful Hassan finally has a clean loss but I would have let it be more of a fight than what it was.
Can you feel the Lilian Garcia Heel Turn on Big Vis that the fans will have to have sympathy for (the same sympathy you feel for Kane’s character history of off-camera forcing sex with Lita and forcing her to marry him )? Though I doubt this would happen, Lilian turning heel for Trish would be all sorts of fun. A girl can dream.
Christian needs to be the WWE Champion by Summerslam. Jericho could benefit Smackdown more since Carlito is gone and Christian has been working toward this championship by improving over the last two years in every respect. I find Christian to be more exciting than anything they are doing regarding this storyline with Triple H and Batista right now. Hopefully Hell in the Cell will be the end of it for a while and that’s putting it in perspective. Thanks for reading and as always your comments are welcome at Bam@4sternstaging.com.
