– Apparently, Rafael Palmeiro’s drug test was taken 2 1/2 months ago and MLB waited to release the results and suspend him so he could get his 3000th hit. Palmeiro also knew.

– Steroid experts tell baseball officials stanozolol was the steroid used, and can last in a person’s system for 3-6 months. It is also not contained in supplements.

– The deal that would have brought Phil Nevin to Baltimore was attempted because the Orioles knew about the suspension.

– STL Today has an interesting article on Palmeiro. They note that his career took off after we became teammates with Jose Canseco. Also, former pitcher Rick Suttcliffe (Palmeiro’s teammate with the Cubs) said Palmeiro wanted him to tell club officials not to trade him and that he promised he would develop power. – Jose Canseco has been given the greenlight to write a second book. Palmeiro was one of the players named in the first book. Canseco has said he will name more names this time.
