Sarah's Spin : What really happened during the BB Feed Blackout?

Archive

After watching the Saturday night showing of Big Brother…the only BB action I had in the last 37 hours…I, like many other feed watchers questioned “We got blacked out for that?” In case you weren’t aware, CBS kept the “24/7 All Access Live Feeds” on the fishtank for a record 37 hours from Friday morning, to midnight last night. What was told to the viewers was that so that “certain competitive results are not revealed” before the show Saturday, when the details of the marathon double-eviction events would be made public.

But what for? The fact that Beau won HoH needed to be kept that secretive? CBS had shown us enough in the 45 second leak that were able to put together the fact that Jennifer had been evicted. Since she was on the block to begin with, the details of the PoV Comp and PoV Ceremony weren’t that important. Janelle taking Maggie off the block, although interesting, didn’t make that huge of a wave. So, what really happened?

Then, I started noticing some odd things, looking at the Saturday show a second time. Why was Howie being so nice to April? Why was Janelle so calm after winning the PoV Competition? What happened to Hurricane Howie sweeping our Janie up and twirling her with in-your-face excitement? When Beau won, there was no sort of negative reaction from the Sovereign 3. Janelle even faked a smile when she calmly handed him the key. This is quite the contrast from the bitch-fight those two had earlier in the week. What on earth happened in those 37 hours?

When the feeds came back the questions continued to pop up. Why was April actually hanging around with Howie and Janelle instead of the other members of the Friendship? What were Janelle and Howie doing up in Beau’s HoH room, being so nice to eachother? Rachel….in the hot tub….with the Friendship? After the lockdown today, and the table is shrunk, Janelle congrats Ivette on making it to the final half, including a hug. What’s going on!?!

I’m almost certain that we’ll never find out 100% of the details from that time away from the feeds, but I’ve got my own ideas on what might have transpired. I think Big Brother intervened.

The house was almost at boiling point. We had all seen how Howie was in the past few days. Janelle wasn’t too far behind him with the name calling, harassment, and instigations. Wether you think it was deserved or not, I think we can all admit that things were going to come to a head, and quickly. Although it makes for good viewing, and good ratings, I’m sure that CBS didn’t want another Eric/Michael instance on their hands. Sure, maybe the S3 had sat down and decided to curb their actions, but I don’t think anything more than a third party stepping in would have gotten the results we have seen since the feeds had gotten back. That also wouldn’t explain why all of a sudden April has become so chummy with them.

A “time out” of sorts was probably enacted. BB sat them down, told them they were not acting appropriately, and gave them some stress-free time to decompress. Possibly they were told they couldn’t talk “game” for 24 hours. Maybe even given warnings about personal attacks and threats. Let them sleep in. Give them a craft or something to take their minds off of things, and act as people, not players. Beer. Fast food. More beer. Maybe they let them watch a movie. Anything to take the heated level of play out of the House.

Of course these are my own ideas, and I have no connections to anyone at CBS to back up my statements. But, I’ve got this hunch that something big happened, and we’ll never see what it was.
