[SD] Update on Plans for Batista, Smackdown

Archive

– WWE.com posted that “World Heavyweight Champion Batista visited HealthSouth yesterday for a consultation on his right triceps tear, which occurred Sunday night in a match against Mark Henry … We expect to have further information on Batista’s condition later today.”

– WrestlingObserver.com says that it is unlikely he will be able to return in time for Wrestlemania, and plans are being discussed assuming a title change is a definite. PWTorch.com is reporting that Dave Batista IS at Smackdown tonight and there is no backstage heat on Mark Henry, as the general feeling is the injury is not Henry’s fault, but rather Dave either being vulnerable to injury or simply overcompensating due to his other muscle tear, thus getting hurt again.

– Possibilities, according to Dave Meltzer, include a quick title change tonight (if Dave is able to be in the ring for a short, safe match); stripping him of the title and doing a tournament; or putting put the title up for grabs in the Royal Rumble match, with the rule made that if a RAW superstar wins the Rumble, he will then become a member of the SD roster. Nothing has been set in stone. (For my thoughts on a tournament, check out this post at TheWrestlingBlog.com.)
