TIM’S VERY QUICK, NO NONSENSE REVIEW

The art is beautiful, very beautiful. Some might call it static, but I actually think that that feeds into the feeling of this issue. It is all “horror movie” building tension-esque so the “freeze frames” of panicked people who are used to always being in control works. Plus, in a perhaps happy accidents, it jives nicely with the new “villain” on the scene who is moving so fast everyone else might as well be standing still.

Writing wise, Bendis does a strong job of building the sense of otherworldly dread. I know some fans might be angered at the quick work made of Alpha Flight and I am sympathetic. However, I thought it added yet another layer by showing not only SHIELD agents but real true superheroes could not handle this being.

It does, however, go by very quick. Not sure how I would rectify it considering I thought that tension built well and the climax was strong. Even knowing that though, I do feel a little cheated storywise. Perhaps a few subplots could’ve beefed up the book a bit?

That Kickers backup story? It sucks. Very much.
