The Weekly Movie Pulse: Our Week in Movies

Archive

Hey all, back again and as Ryan pointed out last week we’re going to be switching off the column every other week. Something I asked him for to help me take some strain off from writing the column every single week while I try to clear out all these DVD reviews I have to write up that are long over due and some real life stuff. And I’ve gotten some work done BUT the operative word is “some”. Thanks to Showtime I’m still behind due to their “On Demand” services, I’ve been watching the new season of Huff along with finally giving Penn and Teller: Bullshit! a chance and falling in love with it immediately. Which is great but with all the content at your finger tips it’s easy to just sit and watch all the stuff they have available for you and lose track of time.

Columns
Rob takes a look at The Emperor and the Assassin in this weeks Bad Ass Cinema. I’m still waiting on “The Best of Norris 3: Sidekicks” but I don’t think it’s ever coming.

Schwob has your weekend Box Office Report which was late but he makes up for it with some reviews.

Torreano uses this weeks Mondo Culto to talk about the greatness of the compilation tape.

Kennedy takes a look at some Disney songs in this weeks CPO with a guest appearance by Eric S.

The 50 Club had it’s debut this week where myself, McCullar, Romo, and Noyes use our new scoring system and tackle some classics. This weeks it’s Jaws, next week… well you’ll have to wait and see.

Reviews
Eric S graces us with a review of Ice Age 2: The Meltdown and I had no idea that Queen Latifa was in this thing. She’s finding her way in to every single movie these days.

McCullar reviews ATL this week which he seems to like. I’ve never heard of it until after I read his review but it’s #3 at the B.O. this week so it must be doing something right.

Tom checked out Slither which is the only film from last week that seemed mildly interesting (if your not a 7 year old). What did IP’s resident jack of all trades think about it? click the link and find out.

Scott had to sit through Basic Instinct 2. Poor bastard.

DVD Review
Tom has two up, Undead along with the 2-disc version of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. That Narnia set is mighty tempting with the quality of the extras.

Rob reviewed The Long Good Friday: Explosive Special Edition and The World’s Greatest Lover. The Long Good Friday is a classic and any Gene Wilder movie is worth watching at least once so check out the reviews.

I was able to get one review completely done this week for I Love Your Work a small film directed by one of the guys from Dazed and Confused.

Scott reviews Blue Thunder: Special Edition, Brokeback Mountain, and Howl’s Moving Castle this week. For a film that was an award magnet the past few months that Brokeback DVD looks really slim, I’ll wait for the double dip.

Travis has one for Derailed: Unrated, which even in it’s unrated form seems to still be average. He also reviewed A League of Ordinary Gentlemen which takes a look at the PBA, a doc I’ve been wanting to check out for a while. What are his thoughts on it? read the review and find out.

Dan has two reviews up this week, A History Of Violence and Remember The Titans: Director’s Cut. I couldn’t agree more with him about how overrated Violence is, I also concur on the awesomeness of Remember the Titans.

Mike has one up for Debbie Does Dallas Uncensored which seems like it’s trying to cash in on that Deep Throat documentary that came out last year.

Features
We have the results in for The 2005 InsidePulse.com Movie Awards, who did you the readers decide to be the best of the best? read it and find out.

News

This weeks going to be a short one, mainly due to this being the week of April fools and news be it fact or fiction spreading like wild fire on the internet makes it hard to pick the true from the false. Couple that with me being naive enough to post just about anything I read I figured it best to steer clear of any news. Besides, 90% of it is all about people breaking up or getting divorced this week anyway and none of that stuff ever qualifies as news. So I instead chose to pull a Hevia and share some funny recut trailers from youtube instead.
