[TNA] Backstage Lockdown Info

Archive

– Team Mexico have been proving rather elusive for TNA lately. Antonio Pena’s cell phone was stolen at a party, though eventually returned. They tried to contact Shocker, though his girlfriend claimed he was on tour for three weeks – even though AAA doesn’t have tours that length and Shocker is having problems with them anyway. Extreme Tiger and Mosco de la Merced do not have valid working papers. Mistico is recovering from a broken hand, while Abismo Negro may be unavailable too. TNA may get the 21 year-old Magno, who also speaks English, like Shocker. CMLL owner Paco Alonso is also extremely reluctant to let his talent go to work in the USA at a time when local business is gaining momentum – particularly due to Konnan’s presence, since he was so instrumental in the last talent raids.

– The real, genuine, honest, no-word-of-a-lie reason behind Jushin Liger backing out of Lockdown has nothing to do with being pre-booked on an NJPW tour. He was never booked on the clashing dates anyway. However, Liger says he has never been in a Cage Match in his career and, were he to do one, it would be in Japan rather than on the undercard of a foreign event. Despite all this, the plan for Lockdown is said to have always been that Samoa Joe vs. Sabu would have been for the X Division Title. This means Joe was meant to win back the title on the first Thursday night edition of Impact regardless of Liger’s situation.

– Goldberg seriously considered appearing at Lockdown, mainly due to his dislike of Vince McMahon, but did not believe in “lowering his value”. His wife Wanda is due to give birth in late May/early June.

– Scott D’Amore suffered a shoulder injury wrestling in Mexico last week but should not miss any TNA TV time.

– Terry Taylor recently had neck fusion surgery and will be in a brace for a while yet.
