Looking Ahead

How Do! Danny Wallace here with Looking Ahead, the column with more funk than a funky monkey.

No real intro today, so let’s just dive straight into the plugs.

News… in the Present!

ECW Returns

Oh dear. Why they just couldn’t leave well enough alone is beyond me. A hundred other people will write better and more interesting stuff about this, so I’ll leave it be.

All I’ll say is that I don’t think it will work, because Vince will probably meddle with it too much. However, unlike most other writers out there, I’m willing to wait until the actual goals of the revival are known before I pass proper judgement.

Jesus gets crucified

No you fools, this doesn’t involve the Son of the God that’s appearing at Backlash… this is that Jesus dude who was on SmackDown a while back. Anyway, he lost to Butterbean in a shoot fight. Apparently the retard tried … I can’t believe this… a f*cking DROPKICK during the fight. What a tool.

Brock Lesner & WWE settle court case

Does anybody really care anymore? Apparently Brock’s going to try his hand a shoot fighting also. He’d probably do better than that Jesus bloke. Some advice Brock… no Shooting Star Presses.

Sabu signs with WWECW

Apparently Sabu has inked his deal for the ECW Revival. Smart man. Think of the job security. The money’s got to be better than he’s currently making too.

The Card So Far

WWE Title Match
John Cena vs. Triple H vs. Edge

WWE IC Title vs. Money in the Bank Match
Shelton Benjamin vs. Rob Van Dam

WWE Women’s Title Match
Mickie James vs. Trish Stratus

Shane & Vince McMahon vs. Shawn Michaels & “God”

Carlito vs. Chris Masters

Kane vs. Big Show

Ric Flair vs. Umaga

Rumors, Thoughts, Etc…

Why aren’t the spirit squad on the card defending the tag titles? Just when you think they might do something with them again, BOOM, no deal.

Looks a pretty interesting card, and I take back what I said a few weeks back about there being no decent build to the matches. Trish vs. Mickie has been superb, and I don’t see this ending any time soon. If Trish wins the belt, which I think she will, then we’ll probably see this continued for a few more months yet.

Predictions and the like…

WWE Title Match
John Cena vs. Triple H vs. Edge

I hate to say this, but keeping the belt on Cena is a good move here as he’s still getting those great mixed reactions. Trips is hopefully going to take some time off soon when his kid gets born, so he’s out, and they’ll save another Edge vs. Cena feud for when that happens.

Winner: John Cena

WWE IC Title vs. Money in the Bank Match
Shelton Benjamin vs. Rob Van Dam

No way Shelton will win, but I think they might go with a No Contest finish to hold both the MITB briefcase and the IC belt up in the air… literally. I’m calling for a draw here, then we get a ladder match rematch at the next PPV.

Winner: None

WWE Women’s Title Match
Mickie James vs. Trish Stratus

If Mickie retains, then where does that leave both her and Trish? Unless somebody debuts the next night on Raw, then they’re both directionless. So I’ll go with a Trish win.

Winner: Trish Stratus

Shane & Vince McMahon vs. Shawn Michaels & “God”

Now it’s time for McMahon to get the win, and we might see HBK break down and start to question his beliefs, which would lead to him taking some time off (which I think I read somewhere that he wanted to after Mania). Damn I’m good and making up storylines.

Winner: The McMahons

Carlito vs. Chris Masters

Carlito: Funny, Charismatic, Entertaining
Masters: Boring, Boring, Crap

It’s easy to see who’ll win here. Why Masters of course!

Nah, only joking. I don’t the a Masters win would be good for business. Carlito needs the win more to keep his ball rolling.

Winner: Carlito

Kane vs. Big Show

One’s got a film coming out. He’ll win.

Winner: Kane

Ric Flair vs. Umaga

“I Know! We’ll give that fat f*ck Jamal a new gimmick, then we’ll have him lose his first PPV match to Ric Flair. YEAH!!!!” – a conversation I don’t see happening in WWE creative meetings..

Winner: Umaga

Draft Lottery

Every week until whenever they do the draft, I’ll be bringing you a recommendation for somebody to be moved.

This week.. it’s Nobody!

I think I’ve been through all the people I think should be drafted in previous columns, and I’m spent.

Of course, they may not do the draft this year, and with good reason. Most of the stars are pretty established on their respective brands, so moving them wouldn’t be a great idea. I’d still move a couple though, just because it makes sense, and change is the enemy of complacency.

The Aura is Fading…

I’ve got to get this in before I go to work, so no time for the pleasantries.

Toodle-pip!
