[ECW] Extreme Changes to New WWE Brand

Archive

In major news – filed under “what did you expect?” – WrestlingObserver.com is reporting that Vince McMahon is taking full control of ECW and taking it in his direction. Dave Meltzer doesn’t say this outright, but uses terminology such as “the feeling this week, and this was strong” as well as “it changes daily” but at the end of the day, this report will likely cause a stir in the IWC, as it was just last week when reports surfaced that Vince had given Paul Heyman further control after a poorly-reviewed premiere on Sci Fi.

In fact, in a promotion for its Elite service, PWInsider is teasing “major changes made to the ECW brand,” “where those changes leave Paul Heyman and ECW alumni in the big picture” and “how Paul Heyman reacted to the changes at yesterday’s ECW taping.” It’s safe to assume that this is related to Vince taking further control.

Also reported by Meltzer and teased by PWInsider is that Kurt Angle will be taking an extended hiatus in order to heal up from various injuries. This explains his jobbing to Randy Orton and Rob Van Dam this week.

We’ll have more on this as it becomes available.
