[WWE] Hogan Off Summerslam?, Jeff Hardy Update & More

Archive

– As a follow up to the Jeff Hardy story from earlier today, WrestlingObserver.com is saying that WWE and Jeff Hardy got on the same page for a deal back when Jeff came to the RAW taping in the Carolinas a few months ago. The talk included the possibility of Matt and Jeff reforming their team, although it has not been confirmed whether he’ll be added to the RAW, Smackdown or ECW roster (he was a part of RAW before his release). WWE.com has posted this tease that the Hardy Boyz will get back together, which includes comments from both Matt and Jeff, where Jeff says “I didn’t need [rehab] … When I was released from WWE, it wasn’t just about demons or demonic metaphors that relate to drug use. I failed numerous drug tests because I just didn’t care”¦didn’t care to wrestle anymore.” According to the Observer, sources close to Jeff have said that he no longer has a drug problem, which was the catalyst for being released a couple of years ago.

– PWTorch.com adds that while WWE had made numerous attempts to get Jeff to come back, Hardy refused to undergo drug testing. Interestingly, the original article from WWE.com has been edited. It originally said “In 2003, just as Hardy began to make his ascent to the top of World Wrestling Entertainment, he came crashing down as a result of a poisonous drug dependency. He was plagued by an addiction to pain killers and methamphetamine (crystal meth), a highly addictive stimulant…” but no longer mentions meth.

– Paul Heyman talks Sabu here, RVD is scheduled to return from suspension at tomorrow’s house show, and in breaking news, WWE.com reports that Hogan may be off Summerslam due to a recent knee injury. Hogan has had an MRI, which doctors should be looking at in the next few days. While PWTorch.com hints that there may be more to this than a simple injury (perhaps Hogan and WWE are disputing how the match should end?), either way this can only be seen as a major blow to Summerslam.
