MTV Mix – Volume 11

Archive, Features, Shows

We only have 5 shows this week to cover! Pretty light week and one show ends this week! So that could mean two full days without any new MTV shows on. Oh well, it happens. It’s time to move on with what we have. So lets mix it up!

MONDAY

‘Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Fresh Meat’

The recap for the FINAL episode is here!!

And let me say that I am GLAD that Darrell and Aviv won! They deserved it, but really it was easy competition as I expected. Luck and luggage got Tina and Kenny and Wes and Casey to the end. That’s it.

I’m already looking forward to the next challenge. Yes, there will be ANOTHER one! This show, like ‘The Real World’, gets ratings so the show will continue until the well is dry. These recaps of these challenges that I do are also the stuff that gets read the most each week from me. So obviously, the interest is still there around here.

The next challenge is called “The Duel” and it’s being filmed in Brazil. I have heard that it will be guys vs. girls this time with seperate grand prizes for guys and girls. So maybe the final girl and guy win a prize. I’m not sure about that, but here is the list of “alumni” competing in this challenge:

Real World Alumni

Aneesa (Chicago)
Brad (San Diego)
Beth S. (Los Angeles)
CT (Paris)
John (Key West)
Nehemiah (Austin)
Paula (Key West)
Robin (San Diego)
Svetlana (Key West)
Tyler (Key West)
Wes (Austin)

Road Rules Alumni

Casey (Fresh Meat)
Diem (Fresh Meat)
Derrick (Extreme)
Eric (Fresh Meat)
Evan (Fresh Meat)
Kenny (Fresh Meat)
Kina (Extreme)
Jodi (Extreme)
Tina (South Pacific)

Should be another interesting challenge and I’m sure I will cover all of the details in this column when it finally airs. And oh yeah, watch out for that “Key West” alliance this time. You know it’s coming! Stay tuned!

TUESDAY

Despite me saying that the new show, ‘Juvies’, would air this week here, it didn’t happen. I don’t know why, but this show gets pushed back more now. In fact, I don’t even know if it will air as I can’t find any information on it. Not on the MTV site, no on my TiVo, and not anywhere else. So for now, I STILL have nothing on this day. Check back next week as it could change at any moment.

WEDNESDAY

‘Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County’

We start off with a sister talk between Lauren and Breanna! Yay! Lauren gives Breanna some advice. Breanna used to be friends with Raquel, but not since she didn’t come to her 16th birthday party. Raquel is now friends with Tessa and Breanna doesn’t like Tessa at all. Lauren tells Breanna to not fight with her “friends” about stupid stuff. Only be friends with people you don’t fight with. Makes sense to me. I want their pool for sure, though!

Raquel and Breanna meet up to discuss their friendship. Breanna wanted to talk to Raquel about why she didn’t come to her birthday party? They used to be best friends with two other girls. But Raquel started to feel left out or “alienated”, especially when she started hanging out with Tessa. Breanna didn’t like that. Raquel talks about how great her life is with her new best friend and her new boyfriend. Breanna says that it seems that Raquel has no time to be friends with her. Raquel didn’t think Breanna should have made her choose between her and Tessa. Breanna starts to cry after what Raquel said. Breanna basically thinks that Raquel chose Tessa over her and that hurts her.

After that whole thing, Breanna talks to Lexie now. And she says the word “random” to describe the whole lunch thing with Raquel and Breanna. Breanna says that Raquel is not nice and I would agree there. Time for Raquel to talk to Tessa now about the same thing. Tessa doesn’t like Breanna. Breanna doesn’t like Tessa. Raquel and Breanna may still like each other, though. Silly girls and their stupid fights! “I’m not your friend anymore!” Sounds crazy, but it’s true. Even when girls grow up into women.

Chase and Kelan have a talk of their own. They talk about their “love lives”. Kelan likes Lexie. So it appears there is going to be a double date with Lexie and Tara and Chase and Kelan tonight. And that was the most awkward dinner EVER! Chase tells Kelan to go after Lexie, but he doesn’t make a move. He even answers his phone during dinner. That’s not good at all.

After that dinner, you might expect Lexie to talk about it to her friends. That’s what she does. Lexie goes and talks to Cami and Kyndra. And right off the bat, Cami uses “random”. I think I will start counting how many times they say that during this season. I think this is number 5 or 6 in the four episodes of the show so far. Lexie agrees that the dinner with the guys was awkward. The topic goes back to Raquel and it IS retarded that Raquel needed to bring Tessa “for support” to the birthday party for Breanna, her friend. Doesn’t make sense at all, but I’m not siding with Cami and Kyndra.

Time for the pool party! Awesome! Breanna doesn’t care if Raquel comes or not. Raquel thinks Breanna will be excited that she is coming. Here is Raquel and Alex to the party and Breanna completely ignores her. That was pretty rude really. Lexie even tells Breanna to go talk to her and she has no reason to do that. She doesn’t say hi or bye to Breanna. And that this episode!

I have mixed feelings here. Overall, everyone is wrong on some things, while right on others. Raquel was retarded for needing to bring Tessa to Breanna’s birthday party. She was also mean to Breanna. That made me side with Breanna UNTIL she completely ignored Raquel at her pool party. She did invite her and she didn’t tell her NOT to come. So they are pretty much even in the “retarded” category. I actually liked Lexie the best in this episode, eventhough she is friends with Kyndra and Cami. Kelan needs to go after her for sure! This really tells you how stupid girls can be and they know it. When it comes to friendship, they can stop talking for months and then suddenly become friends again one day. Girls can also have multiple best friends with each of the other best friends HATING each other, but loving the same person that they are all friends with. It doesn’t make sense, but I’ve seen in happen in real life. Silly girls!

‘Two-a-Days’

Max and his stepdad, Jim, visit a lot of colleges as he is being recruited by a lot of different schools. They go and visit Southern Mississippi University. He likes it there, but he needs to improve if he wants to be offered a scholarship for real!

While the football team practices, the cheerleaders come in to decorate the locker room for spirit! Blair, the cute one, is the leader. That voice could get annoying eventually, but it’s still cute to me!

Coach Propst says that every player has a flaw about them. Max likes to clown around too much. Repete is a little crazy at times. Propst is there to discipline the kids and keep them focused. He holds their futures in his hands. He sets up the highlight reels of them playing and sends it to various colleges. He can get them a scholarship, but they have to work hard.

Repete says his family moved to Hoover so he can play football. If he didn’t move there, though, he says he would probably be in jail or dead. Repete is sad that he can’t hang out with his friends like he used to. His dad says that he is proud of him. All of the hard work will pay off. He has a chance to be the first person from his family to go to college.

This week’s game is against a BIG opponent. They are facing Tuscaloosa County High School. They can beat Hoover High. Taylor and all of the “non-football” people want them beat Tuscaloosa extremely bad this week! Everyone is worried about Ross and his mistakes, though. Ross watches video of their opponents and they are ready to play. It’s an away game and it’s a hostile environment for sure.

Hoover High vs. Tuscaloosa High is underway! Tuscaloosa starts off on fire! A touchdown and an interception from Ross in the first few minutes. It’s 14-0! One more time and it’s 21-0! They are talking about a blowout already! They keep going and at halftime it is 27-14 in favor of Tuscaloosa High! Coach Propst is not happy. He says that is the worst defense he has ever seen! He says that there is not a single defensive player that can play on the next level. Hopefully his speech fires them up!

After Halftime, they come back as expected. They block a punt and score a touchdown. One more touchdown and it’s 33-28 for Tuscaloosa. It’s the 4th quarter and it comes down to one play. If the defense can stop Tuscaloosa from scoring from their 1 yard line, then they have a chance to win. They don’t do it, though. The coaches knew what was coming, but the defense didn’t stop it. 39-28 now. The next series Ross gets injured after throwing another interception in the endzone. He got hit hard! His head hit the ground hard says Coach Propst. The hardest hit he has ever seen, but Ross wants to play still. He shakes off the medical help and continues to play. But the winning streak is over! Hoover loses 39-28! No one is happy! I wouldn’t cry about it, though.

Coach Propst says that is the worst performance he has seen from a football team at Hoover. He says he is not recommending a single player to a single college. They blew their chance now. He says “Hell Week” is coming for them starting Sunday. On top of that, Ross has to go to the hospital after the game. He may have a head injury. And that certainly changes the mood of the show in a hurry!

THURSDAY

‘Wild ‘N Out’

This week’s guest is Warren Sapp, from the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He leads the black team, which consists of Affion Crockett, Nyima Funk, Spanky Hayes, Mikey Day, and Randall Park. The red team is Nick Cannon along with Rasika Mathur, Shawty, Katt Williams, DeRay Davis, and Leonard Robinson.

The first round is called “So Fly”. The members of each team tell you how great or “fly” their respective team captains are. This was close, but I have to give it to the black team. I say Nyima Funk wins this round! Runner-up goes to Affion Crockett.

The second round is called “Home Jeeves”. The team captains are limo drivers and they have to guess who the “stars” are in the back seat, that their team members are pretending to be. The winner has to be Affion Crockett with his “Charlie Murphy” and “Chris Brown” impression. The runner-up goes to Katt Williams for his “Bin Laden” impression. I have to call this round a tie, though. Everyone was funny!

The third round is called “Plead the Fif”. Team captains will take the witness stand and opposing team members will try to make the captains answer embarrassing questions. If the captains reply in a funny way, they get a point. I have to give the round to the black team with the winner being Mikey Day and runner-up going to Randall Park!

The final round was “WildStyle”. Both teams freestyle rap against each other. Red team blew that out of the water! But black team still won this show! I give the round to Nick Cannon, but runner-up is a tie between Warren Sapp and Randall Park. MVP of the show goes to Affion Crockett!!

‘Pimp My Ride’

Xzibit helps Xilomen this week. I can already tell this is going to be a wacky show! She has a 1995 Ford Probe. She says she is an unique person. She has a tatoo on her back of the “God of Death”. Her car is actually “totalled”, but she put junk parts on it to keep it running. She has a piece of leather that is attached to the headliner inside. For what? I don’t know! She does volunteer at a clinic for troubled teens and immigrant families. She does art with them.

Xzibit walks up to the car and it stops him dead in his tracks. He already tears a piece of the car up. The roof is caved in and he sends out a shout out to “Bay Area” as they like to dance on top of cars apparently. Once Xzibit meets Xilomen, the facial expressions he has is just classic! She does the whole “she’s winking at you” thing, which is quite scary. She was talking about the headlight that moves up and down. There are pieces of the car in the trunk, which is always good. She’s unique alright!

The GAS crew get to work. Mad Mike installs a tablet PC on the headliner of the car, so that she can draw on it. The car is her canvas. There’s going to be a place to put all of her art supplies inside the car. There is also this
“light and sound dream” machine to help her relax. The color on the outside is actually designed by a “grafitti artist”, who spray paints her car. It’s a piece of urban art.

The best part of this car is the spray paint art on the outside. Xzibit also gave her a high-tech carrying case for her artwork, which is nice as well. I also like the tablet PC she can drawn on when she is inside of the car.

And that ends the 11th volume of the “MTV Mix”! If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or feedback of any kind..send them my way!!

I’ll see you next week when we mix things up a bit!

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
