[WWE] Latest on Trish Stratus, Matt Cappotelli, Hulk Hogan & More

Archive, News

Today was advertised as Trish Stratus’ last match on RAW, as she defeated Mickie James via pinfall following a Stratusfaction. James and Stratus embraced in the ring afterwards, and then Trish thanked the Madison Square Garden crowd for all the support, and posed on the turnbuckles. She will face Lita for the Women’s Championship on Sunday in Toronto in her farewell match, with the assumption being that she will appear one last time on RAW next week should she win the belt.

As previously reported, Trish is planning to retire in order to at the very least take a break from wrestling if not leave the industry altogether. She has done guest appearances on Canadian TV, so that’s one option for her future. More personally, her plan is to get married on September 30.

In a nice side-note, WrestlingObserver.com is reporting that Lisa Moretti (Ivory) and Nora Greenwald (Molly Holly) are embarking on the “Kickin Ass for Gas — The Wedding Tour Road Trip” beginning September 26, with several indie bookings along their route to… pay for gas! During the 2200-mile drive, they will make stops in Minneapolis on 9/26 to work the First Avenue Night Club, 9/28 in Cambridge, ONT for Pure Wrestling Association, 9/29 in Simcoe, ONT for AWA Ontario and 10/1 in Burlington, ONT for AWA Ontario. We wish Ivory and Molly a safe and fun trip, and Trish and her future husband the best of luck.

– Matt Cappotelli was a guest last Wednesday on the In Your Head Radio Show. According to a report by Cooter Adkins at PWInsider, Matt wants to return to wrestling at some point, and has been doing some speaking and working with youth groups in his spare time. He talks about Heyman and Cornette being positive influences with completely different styles, and in training, Al Snow was less military than Bill DeMott (while saying that Tommy Dreamer, Rob Conway, Nick Dinsmore and the Bashams were all very helpful in his growing as a wrestler). When Bob Holly was brought up, Matt said he understood what he did (stiffing him in Tough Enough) and doesn’t hold a grudge, but doesn’t talk with him much. Matt’s official Web site is Matt-Cappotelli.com.

– Orlando Jordan was on James Guttman’s recent Radio Free Insanity show, in what James is saying was Orlando’s first interview since his WWE release. According to Matt Dawgs’ recap of the interview from PWInsider, Orlando talked about being bisexual and says it was no secret within WWE, he put over JBL and his experience with The Cabinet, and said that Amy Weber was a nice woman but not made for the business.
