Wes Craven, known lately for producing more horror movies than he directs, is finally looking to change that.

Craven, best known for the Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream films, is set to write and direct a new movie for the first time in 12 years. The movie is desrcrbed as being “”Supernatural with a 16-year old central character, but it’s more Sixth Sense than a slasher film”.

Also announced today was Craven’s newly formed production company, Midnight Entertainment. Midnight has made a two-year production deal at Rogue Films. Craven’s longtime producer Marianne Maddalena will run Midnight, which will produce modestly budgeted genre films that other filmmakers will direct.

Other Midnight Pic releases include the upcoming Last House on the Left remake, as well as remakes of Shocker and People Under the Stairs.

A statement from Rogue Films said, “Wes Craven is a leading director, one whose filmmaking skills are revered by genre fans and respected by the film community. His professionalism is known and admired throughout the industry. We’re delighted that his Midnight Entertainment will be based here at Rogue.”
