Shows

Another Thursday, another chance to see who said what about whom.

Sandra, worries that noone’s got game. I found myself humming Public Enemy when I read that. I’m strange that way.

Kim returns and comments on the forced weight loss. Yes, they still do lose weight despite the amount of food they’re eating. Think of it as Atkins to the extreme.

Eliza and Murtz talk about missing episodes of Survivor. Oddly enough, I think I was at the same INXS concert as Murtz. Apparently Richard was there as well. And probably none of us would’ve gone if Marty Casey had won the competition.

BobDawg wrote over 2000 words over lunch and a BEvERage. That pretty much matches my output over about five days.

Dan laments the lack of villainy on the show.

Since this is actually the first time that I’m making a concerted effort to write about Survivor I’ve decided to revive the Power Rankings… so, here we go.

20. Sekou Bunch (Hiki)
19. Virgilo “Billy” Garcia (Aitu)
18. Cecelia Mansilla (Aitu)
17. J.P. Calderon (Raro)
16. Stephannie Favor (Raro) [WORST PLAYER] – I’m actually trying to follow in the steps of Eliza and Murtz in not naming the newest boot as worst player, but sometimes you simply can’t ignore the poor play. Stephannie had no game, no alliances, no strategy, no nothing. Which come the merge, made her a perfect Final Two opponent. Unfortunately, we’re still at the two tribe point in the game, which made her a very large liability and an easy eviction.

15. Cristina Coria (Raro) – Cristina’s in trouble, and she knows it. So come tonight, we’ll see if she can improve her position within the tribe. Of course, if her tribe wins, this would be a moot point, but it looks like Aitu is gaining a bit of momentum in challenges.

14. Anh Tuan “Cao Boi” Bui (Aitu) – Cao Boi, like a certain other Cowboy (Dallas variety), is someone who you can’t wait to find out what he does next. But unlike #81, Cao Boi isn’t an ass. But he’s way out there, and like Wanda the singing woman, I think he’s annoyed enough people that he’s made himself a target. They’ll be sorry when they have bad wind and he’s not around to get rid of it. I didn’t notice anyone getting the “treatment” last week, btw. I suppose once was enough for Jonathan?

13. Jessica “Flica” Smith (Aitu) – Nice to see someone sporting the high sock fashion made popular by Sally last season.

12. Adam Gentry (Raro) – Adam’s one of those contestants where I’ve no real idea where he should go, but I do know that Parvati’s charms are working more on Nate than Adam, so he gets a lower ranking.

11. Rebecca Borman (Raro) – Eleven seems about right.

10. Oscar “Ozzy” Lusth (Aitu) – Ozzy’s definitely the hardest-working “dead man walking” around. The sad truth is that his hard work around camp isn’t what will keep him around. It’s his swimming skills that will keep him in this game. But it’s a game where Ozzy needs the numbers to be close come the merge, or he’ll be booted out right after the Pagonging.

9. Nathan “Nate” Gonzalez (Raro) – Nate did some good work in getting rid of someone who didn’t want to be there over someone who did, but was a bit overbearing.

8. Sundra Oakley (Aitu) [BEST PLAYER] – In contrast to her former Hiki tribemate Stephannie, Sundra has managed to improve her position in the tribe as neither Cao Boi nor Jessica can be trusted to make a firm decision. Now I’m not 100% sure that her current position is due to patience or luck, but I DO know that when the opportunity presented itself, Sundra was all over it.

7. Brad Virata (Raro) – Brad rates this high because of his standing as “one of the girls”, and because I think that he still has an alliance going with Jenny, who is one of the two “power players” on her tribe.

6. Candice Woodcock (Aitu) – Candice has kinda disappeared for a bit, but she’s in a good position, and we’ll see if she can utilize it when the time is right.

5. Rebekah “Becky” Lee (Aitu) – Becky is arguably the weakest member of the Aitu Four, however she’s in a strong position given her alliance with Yul and the potential for a Puka reunion when the merge happens.

4. Jenny Guzon-Bae (Raro) – Jenny drops a bit because of her aborted attempt to oust Cristina, but apparently her alliances were strong enough that she was able to go with the flow and vote out Stephannie.

3. Parvati Shallow (Raro) – I’m sorry, I still can’t see Parvati as a boxer. A look at her bio says “Perfect 10 Model Boxing”, and while the pictures show real fighting, it looks like oversized gloves and large helmets. Perhaps more importantly, the boxers are Perfect 10 girls. What am I saying? I’m saying I need to research this a bit more, is all.

Oh, and funny-weird note: one of the ring girls is named Jessica Smith.

2. Jonathan Penner (Aitu) – Strategy or accident? That’s the question I have about Jonathan saying that the Exile Idol has been found. Personally I think Jonathan was just stating a fact and not making a strategic play, but it did put Yul on notice since he actually does possess the Idol.

1. Yul Kwon (Aitu) – While I don’t think Yul is firmly in control of this game, he definitely has a wild card in the Exile Idol should it ever come to that. The thing is, even if Aitu goes to Tribal Council, Yul is safe because he’s the strongest member of the Tribe (it’s not even close) so they can’t afford to lose him. They’ll pick off Jonathan before Yul.
