Looking Ahead – 24th October 2006

Bound For Glory was a good PPV for yours’ truly, as it bumped up my standings in the Inside Pulse Round Table.. table. Other than that, not much else to write about really, aside from the wrestling obviously.

So let’s go…

Man, I really need to think of a good way to kick off the columns. Song Lyrics might be a good idea… or is that a little too fruity?

RAW

Next PPV – Cyber Sunday; 05/11/06

The Announced Card

Champion of Champions Match
John Cena vs. King Booker vs. Big Show
Fan’s Choose which World Title will be on the line; WWE, World Heavyweight, ECW

Ahh King Booker, how you deserve to hold both World titles… pity it won’t happen. The fans will vote for the WWE title, Cena will win and everything will stay the same. Still, it’s a good way to build up the Survivor Series Main Event, but really, after SS WWE NEEDS to stop f*cking about with the “brand war” type feuds and just develop feuds on the separate shows. Otherwise they might as well do what Burnside’s wet dream is and mush all the brands together again.

I think saturated is the word I’m looking for.

Special Guest Referee Match
DX vs. Orton & Edge
Fan’s Choose who the Special Guest Referee will be; Jonathan Coachman, Eric Bischoff, Vince McMahon

Didn’t catch Raw yesterday, but from the sounds of it Eric Bischoff handed Orton a chair in which to wallop HHH with it. Sounds like a fun, little angle can be made from this if they continue to use Bischoff in DX angles. Oh, and they’re obviously going for Bischoff to be the referee in the match.

Open Challenge
Umaga vs. ?
Fan’s Vote for either Chris Benoit, Kane or Sandman

As I’ve been saying for the past few weeks, Umaga should have a spot on the card, with the fans choosing who his opponent will be. Lo and behold, somebody from WWE reads my column and goes ahead and books the same damn thing. It feels good to know that.

Not too sure about the choice of Chris Benoit as an opponent, but meh, if he gets chosen (which he won’t… Kane is the obvious choice due to the recent history) we’ll get to see a great hard-hitting match.

Intercontinental Championship
Jeff Hardy vs. ?
Fan’s Vote for either Carlito, Shelton Benjamin or Johnny Nitro

Ahh, poor Shelton Benjamin… in the same place as he was two years ago, although he had a rather good run with his momma about half a year back. This is a great place to kick off the “held back” gimmick that he’s been using recently, it’s just a question of if they pull the trigger.

I’ve also been saying that the IC belt will be defended on the PPV for a while now. It means that either I’m getting this prediction game down to a T… or WWE is wasy to predict. Hmm… bit of both I guess.

Tag Team Match
The Spirit Squad vs. Ric Flair & ?
Fan’s Vote for either Dusty Rhodes, Roddy Piper or Sgt. Slaughter

What a great nostalgic match this will be, especially if Dusty Rhodes is chosen. I’d have preferred IRS to have been included, or at least a Money Inc reunion match or something. But alas…

Oh, and this is where The Spirit Squad will split for good I imagine.

Speculation…

WWE Women’s Title Match
Mickie James vs. ?

I was quite surprised that Micke got a win over Melina on Raw yesterday, but then again this could add fuel to a possible feud somewhere down the line, if Mickie wins the tournament.

SMACKDOWN, RAW & ECW

Next PPV – Survivor Series; 26/11/06

The Announced Card

N/A

Speculation…

Team Raw vs. Team SmackDown vs. Team ECW

I don’t want to comment too much on this for now, as that can be saved for next week’s column, but for now I’ll just say that it looks like they’re going in this direction. While I think that inter-brand matches should be saved for WrestleMania, this has the chance to provide some massive memories. The ramifications have the possibility to be great.

The Last Bit…

Go and buy Justin Timberlakes new album, then play track 5 on a loop.
