TV Babies: Gilmore Girls, Episode 7-7

Shows

So much for taking things slow. A few weeks ago, Lorelai and Christopher had a very sweet, High School-style date including their very own drive-in movie. Now they’re in Paris, buying out restaurants and getting married”¦

Back in Stars Hollow, Lane & Zach have more problems then they know what to do with.
Not only is Lane pregnant, she’s pregnant with twins! Zach figures all twins are Siamese. When Lane quickly dispels this ridiculous notion, Zach is relieved: “Twins are easy!” Now they just have to break the news to Mrs. Kim, who takes it surprisingly well. But just when they think they’re in the clear, Mrs. Kim replaces Brian as Lane and Zac’s roommate.

At Yale, it’s time for Rory to step down as editor of the Yale Daily News. Senior year is flying by. Following a very frank discussion with Paris about post-college life, Rory’s back to completely overreacting and stressing about the future. She invites Olivia and Lucy for a weekend retreat to Stars Hollow, and proceeds to have a complete breakdown. You’re 22 years old! You’re about to graduate from Yale! Get over it! I understand that some of her melancholy comes from being separated from Logan. Speaking of Logan, a very interesting “twist” at episode’s end: guess who Lucy’s boyfriend is? Marty. And he pretends to be meeting Rory for the first time.

Do we have to go to Paris? Needless to say, my least favorite storyline — as Christopher continues to throw his money around and Lorelai continues to be impressed. Also, I found the writing to be lazy and below-par yet again. Can’t they do any better than complain about how rude the French are? Lorelai’s head seems to be in a complete fog. When she returns home, she remarks that everything looks a little different. That’s because you’re Mrs. Hayden now! And the look on her face says it all”¦

So what will Rory and Luke think of the news from Paris? Next week: circumstances beyond their control bring Lorelai and Luke back together”¦
