Adam Joseph – How I Seem To Be
Jah Records
Pop/Rock

Adam Joseph has a natural talent which could be described as a neo-electric/soul George Michael (talent, not scandal) and Gavin DeGraw, whose soul could push through any American Idol contestant on their best day.

“Your Mine” was a perfect way to kick off the album, the song building up with a nice mix of soul and pop about a trance of devotion. “Gotta Way” follows “Your Mine” like your hips rotating backwards on the dance floor with another hottie dancing with you and is about the struggle of being vulnerable and exposing your feelings.

“Flow With My Soul” is Adam Joseph’s standout on How I Seem To Be. The song flows and climbs with his natural gift without being preachy or over-the-top, and flirts with other music influences, including a rap/hip hop section of the song.

I felt “Take Time” could have been left off the album, it’s another way of saying “Your Mine” and I felt “Your Mine” did a great job of conveying that emotion. I think the primary problem with Joseph’s album is it’s hard to see any musical chances being taken on this album. However, he has every ability, and all the talent to succeed and I would love to see him stretch his wings and experiment with as many genres as possible. “Need To Be” is exactly what he needs to do with his next project, he’s finding himself in his music, and I believe Adam Joseph will become everything he wishes to be and more.
