Michael Pena has joined Lions for Lambs, the Robert Redford-directed drama that marks the first film for United Artists since Tom Cruise and C/W partner Paula Wagner signed on to revive the shingle for Harry Sloan’s MGM.

Pena will play an Army Ranger lieutenant and platoon leader in Afghanistan, and he and his men become the catalyst for multiple overlapping storylines. Cruise, Meryl Streep and Redford also star in the drama.

Pena, who recently appeared in Crash and World Trade Center, will next be seen starring opposite Mark Wahlberg in the Antoine Fuqua-directed Shooter.
