A Co-Host Turned Blogger: Grey's Anatomy Six Days

I think it was pretty obvious that George’s dad was near death so like many; I’d been preparing myself for the moment. I had no idea that the entire show would be a rollercoaster of emotions. It started with the moment that George figured out that Webber and Bailey had stood by Mr. O’Malley’s wishes to go ahead with the surgery. The hairs on my body stood up after that scene. Who didn’t shed a tear when George had the one on one with his Dad? Or when the family made the choice to pull the plug of life support, knowing he would never come out of it. The sombreness of the whole show, changed a bit, during one scene. The family stood out in the hall, side by side in a state of shock, gas was passed and they all had a few giggles. It’s as though they knew it would be them from that point on. Thinking the moment they pulled the plug would be the worst over; Cristina follows George outside and gave him the “Dead Dad’s Club” speech: “I’m really sorry you had to join the club.” George: “I don’t know how to exist in a world where my Dad doesn’t.” I loved how Callie asked Derek to be dismissed from the surgery she was assigned to just so she could be with George and his family. Mr. O’Malley became the emotional tie between the cast and with him gone the mood will be much different. He will sure be missed.

I had been hoping that the controversial feud between T.R and Isaiah wouldn’t interfere with the episode and it hadn’t, although it was hard to not think about it when they spoke.

We also saw a sensitive side to Mark Sloan. That’s why he was talking to Addison that way last week. She aborted his baby eight months ago.

Meredith thought she had nothing in common with father, so it was nice that he acknowledged that her snoring came from him.
